Frost and harvesting

For my region usually the first frost comes the 20th of October, and I was wondering, how can I tell when the frost is coming exactly? Like is the first frost the first day the temperature goes below freezing? Or is it the first day that the temperature comes close to freezing? Also, if my plants aren't fully developed by then should I go ahead and harvest them before the frost, or wait till they are fully developed even if that means they're exposed to the frost? Thanks so much

So, essentially you're saying the temperature will make it mature and ready to harvest before the first frost?
No I'm not saying that, it just made my plant hairs to turn red,,, but there is a lot of people on here that have a lot more experience with harvesting then I do,, Lets see what they say..

u dont have to harvest in the event of a frost, these plants are very hardy and can pull through. u want to watch out for the hard freeze which is 28*F or under. at this temp the plants cells freeze, in turn killing the plant

There are websites that will tell you when the first frost typically occurs in your area. Don't fret if she's not done, however. There are usually a couple of light frosts before a hard frost. As MrMJ points out, a light frost will not kill the plant. In fact, it will make it hasten it's progress :bigjoint:
