I was just looking up frost dates for my region in Ontario and where i live it says average first frost is september 16. This doesn't make sense because your supposed to pull your plants first frost right? Theres not way mine are goin to be done in less than 2 weeks since they've only been budding for 10 days now. I've had friends tell me that they havest end of october but how does it make sense with all this frost bullshit, im confused lol???

cover your plants or make a hide for them.frost won't hurt them if they are sheltered.garbage bags work if the plant is small enough.I put mine in a barn every night and put them back out every morning.I have 3 plants one is 5 feet the others are 4 feet.

the only problem is 2 are 6 foot and planted in the ground. The ones that are potted i will prolly put them in my garage at night or something. So with this in mind i shouldn't havest till what end of october? that'll give em just under 2 months to get nice big buds....hmmmm.

a frost down to 25 degrees or so is harmless. no you absolutely do not have to pull them the first frost, you will notice your plants will start slowing down or stop growing, watch for mold. frost will not kill marijuana!, however when you get a hard freeze in the lower 20's watch out.

There are some strains that are made to with stand colder regions, like people grow in alaska, im sure you can grow in ontario, i was worrying about the same issue since i to live in ontario but a light frost wont kill your plants usually, it might turn some of the leaves purple which is kinda cool looking.

yeah the strain i got was recommended for northern climates, it says it can withstand small peroids of frost, so looks like they'll be fine.

light frosts are ok for the plant but a heavy frost can do some hefty damage.. do you know the strain of your plant?.. can make a difference.. generally just watch for the first full moon in september.. highest chance of getting an early frost until Oct (in ontario).. unless you are in the very south-western point of ON you have a few more weeks... it is gunna be tough to grow in ON if your plants arent done flowering till the end of Oct. all it takes is few light frosts (0C - -2C) to slow down a plants growth... enough so it isnt done before a heavy frost kicks it in the teeth.. last year Fort Erie got like a foot of snow in mid Oct... very unusual.. i'm just tryin to say that its easier to use strains that are done end of Sep... which there are many of

it was 32 the other day you honestly think its gonna frost in a week? lol thoose are previous records or estimates, last year first frost wasnt till early november, youll be fine, a larger plant can take a frost or two, or if your really worried or a front does come early, go out before sunrise and mist them with some room tempature water that way when the sun comes up it doesnt magnify threw the frost and fuck your plants,

I have 4 Blueberry plants they are surrounded by insanely thick forest so that should hold in some heat and keep the frost out for abit.

Frost is more likely to hurt the buds first. Its like a frost that kills orange and fruit trees. The buds get damaged and the fruit stops produceing.I know in the midwest northern US we are supposed to have a hard heavy snow winter early this year. I dont grow outside so I dont have to worry but this time of year til october everyone is harvesting.

the weather in canada has been funky it was 6 degrres last few nights,it may not frost early but it does not help that it is alot cooler average temperature this year,i can see an early snow, but what looked like a great outdoor growing season has now got people worried in these kneck of the woods,i only have a couple of plants, and this cool weather has really slowed down budding, one sunny day doesnt do much when its cold and over cast for the rest of the week, but im in central canada, maybe we will have a nice indian summer.

If you plants are close enough to your house or a power source. You can run an extension cord and put a fan on them, the moving air will prevent frost from forming. Frost doesnt occur on windy nights for that reason, it is usually very calm nights. I realize running power cord and having a fan on them is not the best option for some people but if you can do it, it will help. Another option is to stack concrete blocks or rocks around you plants as they are good at absorbing residual heat throughout the day and it can help to keep them warmer at night.
Good luck

what about bringing my smaller plants in at night and then back out in the morning? what if i sleep in and forget to put them out early, would that be that a big deal? I got an off topic question, How much direct sunlight does a budding plant need a day to maintain rapid growth? I got a prime location but it doesn't always have direct sunlight.
Just a thought...peace

your buds arent going to ripen faster.. ya cant really do that.. its nature.. just check your frost dates.. google it.. 15 seconds and ya know.. even though they are averages its prolly a 50 year average.. the estimates are close to actual dates.. unless theres an unusally warm/cold autumn.. just watch the weather tho.. a frost of -4C will pretty much kill a plant.. doesnt matter if its weed or not.. the plant will die.. thats how nature is.. so just be prepared
