well I found our fly strips work great ior an inch of sand kills them from coming up through the soil. Just a heads up for anyone looking, LIME also seems to work well.

...if you'd simply let your soil dry all the way out, that will kill 80% of the larva.

...the fungus nat isn't a harm to your plants, it's the larva it lays in your soil that will eat at your roots.

...hang fly tape, let your soil dry out really well...I personally use a little bit of Ivory dish liquid in my waterings in soil, it supposedly gives the soil a harsh taste to the larva/nat.

...I've heard of people spreading a top layer of construction sand across the soil surface, supposedly, the nats can't crawl their way through the sand.

...I've even heard of people putting freash cut potato fries into the soil vertically, supposedly, the nats will lay the larva in the potato rater then the soil...your supposed to replace the potatos everyother day.

....good luck.

If you choose to use the sand, it doesn't have to be an inch deep. 1/8" is all you need, as the adults won't lay any new eggs on it/in it and they'll soon disappear. The larvae only live a couple days until they turn to adults, then another 5 days as adults, then die. So, if they can't lay new eggs, they'll die off quick. Worked excellent for me.
