You need a fan blowing across the top of the plant blowing the heat away. Makes a huge difference. 400 watt HPS=Big Tight Buds.

If you're not going for yield then of course go cfl if heats an issue or use lower power HID lighting?
HID has far better penetration and will produce more bud percentage per watt than cfl if both are in ideal conditions, with reasonable ventilation you can get a 600w hps into a fairly small area ie 80cm x 80cm x 120cm, if you don't have the means to provide adequate ventilation then cfl's will do the trick all day long in my opinion equal quality bud. I personally lst or scrog my grows to even the canopy and control stretch, I couldn't say whats viable for you.

Better buds, denser and bigger harvest is why.Dont blame the equipment when it is user error and not willing to make sacrifices to grow.Just continue buying from your dealer......

So our plants aren't that stretched ;)
You cant get your room in order so you blame the non faulty equipment?
Did you also blame the teacher when you failed a test :-D

i think staying with them cfls, for the first grow is goo for you, this way you will get a lot of exp.
that sounds sativa to me,so you might be in for a long flower time.

600 watt hps is an awsome light. If you vent it and keep the distance to the plants tolerable. In bud ive had mine as close as 2".You will have to keep the cfl's as close to the bud tips as you can get them all the time, touching them if you must. You will have to move them upward as your plant grows. You will get alright buds, but it doesnt seem worth all the work on top of all the work you normally have to do to grow our lovely plants.Try a lower watt HPS.My first light was a 400 watt hps in a 2.5'x3.5'x6' closet had the light on top of them, almost touching them. Also had fan sucking heat off the light and cool air supply coming

Haha, well in 10 weeks or so you will know why we use 600w lights.

Well with the light you have there now you might be lucky to get an eigth in the end.

Don't give up on the 600. Just read more before acting. Cool it properly and it's fine. My last plant was toching the glass of my 600 with no heat problems, it did end up bleached in one are but still pulled 6 zips out.

The one thing you absolutely need right now is a thermometer with a min/max display. You stat adding cfls and you might get the same problem. Cfls, when you have enough of em per area, get hot too, just in a different way.

dude that is the LONGEST fucking seedling i have ever seen in my life, i almost want to save the image to show others and laugh about how ridiculously long it is. There's a good 6 inch toothpick stem before you even see a leaf.

Go backwards and spend more $ on CFL to get more of what you know.
Learn to control your 600w to get better than you have harvested in the past.:eyesmoke:
