I would forget about Il. until the 4 year pilot program is up. The regulation is so strict and the state is trying to make too much money so they completely botched the program. Dank will be so much cheaper on the streets, why even go to their ripoff dispensaries? It will be a failure...

Section 1000.120, on page 29, establishes the requirement of a $25,000 non-refundable
application fee, a fee of $200,000 for the first annual permit for each location, a fee of $100,000
for each subsequent year.

Your govt. tax for the first year is $20,000/month plus rent, payroll, electric, lawyers, etc.

Are they out of their minds? That eliminates 99.9% of growers. Anyone that has millions of dollars would be stupid to open a cultivation center. It's just way too risky and wouldn't be worth it. There is so much regulation that it proves to difficult to be profitable. You're much better off opening a McDonalds. I thought they'd have thousands of applicants but now it looks like they will have none. Lets not forget that millions of people will want a card but won't be able to get one because their paramaters are so strict. You've got this great product, everyone wants it, yet nobody can buy it. What good is that? Cannabis in Il. as a business is an epic fail.

Guess they expect big pharms to get into the "drug" game in the ill state. Who's got a cool half mil just to drop so you can grow pot? Good forbid you lose a harvest at these entry rates. You'll never recover and bury yourself in debt.

Ok, I believe I understand how the Illinois medical plan will work when its up and running. I have not gone to a doctor yet but am 99% sure I can get a medical license for my seizures. I will probably not do this if two of the three new laws go into effect.

Rep. Kelly Cassidy, D-Chicago, sponsors House Bill 5708, which would make possession of up to 30 grams of marijuana a “regulatory offense” punishable by a fine of up to $100. Current law makes possession of as little as 2.5 grams of marijuana a class C misdemeanor, which is a criminal offense punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,500 fine. Cassidy’s bill also allows such offenses to be expunged from a person’s record.

The second bill, sponsored by Rep. Christian Mitchell, D-Chicago, is similar to Cassidy’s bill, but it also lowers the penalties for possessing marijuana plants. Currently, possessing up to four marijuana plants is a class A misdemeanor, but Mitchell’s bill, House Bill 4299, would make it a petty offense with a fine of up to $100. Possessing between five and 20 plants would become a class A misdemeanor under Mitchell’s bill, instead of the current class 4 felony.

Rep. Michael Zalewski, D-Chicago, sponsors a third bill, decreasing the penalties for marijuana possessions. Although House Bill 4091 would result in a ticket for marijuana possession, the bill would still consider possession of marijuana a criminal offense instead of a petty offense. Additionally, possessing a large amount of marijuana near a school would become a class X felony under Zalewski’s bill, punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of $200,000.

I hope the first two pass for sure as I won't probably be able to afford paying out of pocket for their medicine but won't mind growing my own if I don't have to worry about jail time but we will see.

You must not be from Illinois or know how things work around here. I used to be optimistic like you reading those bills but they don't mean anything. We've had great bills pass the senate and the house and guess what? Rauner will veto it. Rauner has used his amendatory veto power on every single cannabis bill that has landed on his desk. He's an asshole and there will not be any advancements until he's out. Illinois needs a democratic governer and than you might get what you want. Republicans support the police and you know what... Fuck the police!
