Fuck! One hermie in week 8. Chop him / her?

Just noticed three bananas coming out the top of a bud, when I checked the other colas on the same plant they ALL had started to herm, there were tiny bananas hidden underneath the densest parts. I checked all my other plants, they seemed fine thank god.

This one is nearly finished but could probably use another four or five days - Will the development of the herms hurt the THC content? should I just harvest now and make some hash? Or should I risk it and wait another few days? I can probably clear out bananas before any pollen spreads.

yeah, chop it bro. You can still use the trimmings and stems though... to make hash with. Very easy to do.

or, if you plan on doing a breeding project.. and breeding your own strain.. then I would keep it.

But, other than that bro.. I wouldn't keep it.. but that's IMO.

Wait, are you suggesting I couldn't still smoke the buds? they are just the tiniest slivers of green... I think the buds will be fine, apart from being harvested a little young. but there are plenty of nice cloudy trichs that would get me ripped

Your saying.. that the pollen sacks haven't popped open yet?? None of them??? If not, carefully chop them from the plant.. the pollen sacks that is. Otherwise, any female plants that you may have.. will end up pollinated by that male plant..

seperate your male/female plants completely bro.. like.. in a completely different room even. Because, if you have a female and a male plant.. in the same room.. and the male plant's pollen sacks bust open.. you may not even see the pollen.. like small trace amounts.. that end up flying through the air.. but if the male/female plants are kept in the same room.. the female plants WILL end up getting pollinated.. ruining all your work and effort that you've put into your grow.

Trust me.. it happened to me when I first started growing. I'm not ashamed to say this.. I cried for a good solid hour. But looking back on it.. I learned from it... so its all good.

Chop the hermie and get it out of your room,the smoke will be fine.Some of the best smoke Ive had lately has been reserve privadas OGX18 and it hermies like no other.The smoke is top shelf,it just shoots out nanners in week 6 and 7....peace

tx for making me feel better

it was barney's farm LSD feminized seeds, they have all been champs so far, I think it hermed from a bad nute burn a week or two ago. It will be interesting to compare it harvested now vs. my two other LSDs I'll probably chop in 7-10 days

I'll give a full smoke report

I understand. I cleared out all the obvious bananas on top and flushed them (edit: as in: down the toilet. Not the plant.). They DEFINITELY did not pop open. I check them like, every hour the light is on I got em pretty early. And don't worry, I'd cry like a baby if this happened to all of them, or even worse, like four weeks ago.

Worst case scenario would be I harvest them all right now, and I'd still be looking at probably 3-5 ozs dry, possibly up to a hp, off a 400W. Not too shabby for a first time, maybe?

If thats the only strain you have growing,?Id pick the nanners off and let them go another couple weeks,if your like me and have several strains finishing at different times a hermie just destroys your yield and potency...peace

Nah, it's a multistrain grow. I decided it wasn't worth the risk. It really was only a few, though like I said I saw more tiny ones in development on each branch. So check it out... I was pretty excited to harvest for the first time anyway!!!!

I got these babies drying now... 236.9 grams wet off of ONE plant. Over a half pound. I have four more coming, and they are all a fair amount bigger, so let's just say I'm in a pretty good mood.

How much weight do they lose in drying? 80%? 90%

To my understanding plants lose about 75-80% weight when dryed
