This made me so damn angry.

quote from the detroit mayor - "Our condolences remain with all affected by this tragedy. We must use this difficult moment to continue bringing our community and police department together," Bing said in a statement.

A cop just killed a little girl, so lets use this to bring the community and the police dept closer together?! ARE YOU SHITTING ME?! Thats some shameless shit.

Ok it may be because im high or idk but i dont understand it fuly someone please explain. SO i get that they were doing a drug raid and an officer *accidently* shot this girl. So were there actually drugs in the house? or who are we blaming? and whats the course we should take?

I heard that the officers 9mm machine gun discharged from outside the house and that the police lied and claimed that a tussle with the Grandmother caused it to go off.

If the Authorities want to automatically treat people like criminals and throw stun grenades through the windows and carry submachine guns then they need to fess up when their strong arm tactics backfire.

This is part of the reason why Ron Paul wants to end the war on drugs ....because its really a war on people.

disgusting. this reminds me of a few years back when the show "cops" came to my city. long story short the chief of police kicked them out because they were capturing too much reality if you know what i mean. the local paper didn't let it go and printed a whole story about a particular incident that set the whole thing off.
police tactics are very questionable to me. i can understand the risk and uncertainty of entering a strange environment and not knowing what's on the other side of a door, but there is an extreme lack of accountability when shit hits the fan. it seems like the cops are always placed on "paid leave" until the trial, then they are found not guilty. i can't even remember the last high profile cop case where the cop was actually found guilty.

even if it wasn't on purpose, the issue of someone dying as a result of "standard procedure" needs to be seriously examined.

Yes, it was Uncle Buckey. As you pointed out, the Valentines's day massacre riled up the public to no end. But ... one fact has been erased from our history, and that is, jury nullification had a lot to do with ending prohibition too. The authorities were finding it harder and harder to get convictions in alcohol related matters. We should do the same with drug matters and Second Amendment matters when we're sitting on a jury.

A month + late, I know, but if I'm ever on a jury for a drug charge, anything but crack and heroine is getting a "NOT GUILTY" from me. Either the others will go along with it, or thats gonna be a hung jury.

Are you kidding? What difference does it make if there were drugs in the house. And the course of action that *we* should take is no more drug raids, less of course you like it when little girls get killed by cops.

Yes, that had an impact, but what really cinched it was after the massacre, the government had a hard time getting convictions in jury trials. Back then, Americans knew their history and the true intent of jury duty.
