Fucking GREEN DAY

I started listing to these guys when I read a little blub about them in Thrasher back in the early 90's. The Slapped-Out 1039 album got me hooked. Then they started getting famous. Dookie, Insomniac, and now there's 12 year old's thinking American Idiot is the best album ever.

I can almost deal with that but it seems as those these guys have taken it. Yeah they had "86" which I totally understand from a fan perspective, but they sold out HARD. These guys are wearing eyeliner now. WHAT THE FUCK???

I turned literally hundreds of people on to Green Day back in the early 90's. Now I'm ashamed of it.

I understand they're "pop-punk", but the level that they've sold-out to, I can't deal with. I was with them during Dookie, Insomniac, and Nimrod, but fuck, these guys are sell-outs.

FWIW, aside from 1039/Slapped-Out, Nimrod is my 'fav album.

Peace.

I don't know me personally.. green day always sucked. I'm not knocking you musical preference at all, shit I like dimmu and everyone says they sold out. I just think there was better punk back then, nofx, operation ivy. The vandals,

i was right there with you up till you said no/fx, they suck balls.. saw them play one time live and the whole crowd simply sat on the floor and waited for the set to finish up, it was great.. :)

Yeah dude, Green Day is such a part of me but after American Idiot, I won't even listen to any of their new stuff. Their change seemed so quick and dramatic. Yeah I liked them when I was 15 but now all they seem to care about is marketing to 15 y/o's. Im guessing they need to start smoking bud more, less corporated dick sucking.

i don't care what you say, everyone is a 'sellout' these days. I like their music. it's simple, it uses all the same chords but I enjoy it. I know the length and breadth of musical theory but I like them, shallow or not. *shrug*

I remember them playing on TOTP in 2002 or something... they were only supposed to play one song and both the band and the crowd kept asking for one more song... loved it.

i remember listening to dookie in junior high and how big of a part of my life their music was. my musical tastes have changed a lot since junior high though. i can listen to their older shit for the nostalgia but i have to be in a certain mood to get into any of their new shit.

i can remember my buddy blasting the shit out of f.o.d. when his mom would scream at him. good times...
