full climate control

I just finished up cleaning and moving out old equipment and moving some new equipment in preparation for my next grow I learned during my last grow that climate control is very important and my last grow that was a serious issue one minute my temp was 80 next it's pushing 100 degrees and that was with a 400w I felt that my yield could have been better but I pulled about 5-6 oz off 3 plants for this next grow I've ordered a 600 watt cool tube hps I still have to order my mh conversion bulb but I'm pretty sure 1-2 weeks under the hps shouldn't hurt it right? well, back to the topic I'm thinking of getting 2 inline fans (1 to push air out and 1 to push air in) of course 2 carbon filters but I'm not sure on if two is needed basically asking would it be smart to have 1 for intake and 1 for outake? and what can I do to obtain full control of my climate list all the equipment and if you got pics of your grow tent/room let me see them!

i can control climate without two fans, just using passive intake. No need for two carbon scrubbers unless you want to scrub the air your forcing in. heater/A/C would be the first place to start when controlling your temps. air cooled lights sure help. look online for environmental controllers....obtaining full control over climate can get pretty pricey.

I'm pretty sure it pays off also so how should i go about hooking 1 carbon filter + cool tube+ ducting like what order? I would rather control the air thats going in the tent I love the smell of my females lol

if you have no worries about smell then really there isnt a need for a carbon filter for extracting air. you could run filter>fan>tent to bring fresh air in, if you used a carbon filter for extraction you could hook it up filter>cooltube>fan or cooltube>fan>filter....being that the filter sits outside of your tent.

as far as ducting, if i was to go for the extraction of the air inside it would be fan>duct>cooltube>duct> ???
because the fan would be blowing the air out a window or to another room would I just leave it fan>duct>cooltube?

this is for extraction. with the carbon filter inside the tent. pulling air through the filter, through the hood to cool it, the expelled out of the tent and into another room.

you could do the same thing except place the filter on outside of tent if you'd like. leaving one end of the cool tube open. its always easier to pull air through a air cooled hood/cool tube, rather then to push air through them.

in fact, in the situation you see in the picture, it would be easier to keep temps low, if the filter was taken off and placed outside of the tent....leaving the end that the filter is connected to now....completely open...thus more air flow.

I have a vent fan connected to a digital thermostat and an a/c unit for the summer months. When I'm using the a/c, I connect my vent fan to a timer for every 1½ hrs to refresh the air in my chamber.

An a/c might help with your temps, I'm using a 400w as well. I learned my lesson when mites infested my garden and I just couldn't get my temps below 80f.

actually I like that setup is that yours? how did you mount the fan and filter?

this got me thinking about a digital thermostat that has plugs so when the temp gets too high it would automatically turn additional fans or portable a/c on an off when needed you know anything like that?

ya its my ghetto rigged set up. hahah the fan is mounted with rope around the metal poles....was a bitch, but shes snug and doesn't move a bit. as for the carbon filter, i was able to jam two S hooks into the metal ring that holds the pre filter on....and hung it from one of the cross members. used 14 gauge wire on the other side of the filter and basically twist tied it vertically to another metal pole. all in all it works....temps stay about 80 w/out A/C....once summer comes, ill pump AC directly into the tent, and use a fan speed controller to keep things in check.

use that in conjunction with a window unit AC. unless you have a window unit that has a built in thermostat. Ive got one, keep it on 75, and run the copper thermostat wire into you tent... it will kick on and off as needed....

this is not my pic....someone elses. gives you an idea though.

if you have a window unit like this, you can remove the intake filter thingy (that plastic pos with the brown lines that isnt covered up) and behind it is a copper wire probably not very long...but soldering more on isnt a big issue. run it into your tent....thats the cheapest thermostat your gonna come across.

dont buy a conversion bulb just use a hps hortalux eye, veging with hort eye hps will work better than a conversion bulb

ok now I'm shopping around for inline fans and carbon filters(i know i can make my own) I'm looking at the
Hydrofarm Active 6inch Fan with 400 cfm & 4 inch 2600 carbon filter with duct flange would the size of the CF(Carbon Filter) and the Inline Fan fit or do they have to be the same size??

I looked into the Hortilux Eye 600w bulb I'm probably going to invest in one but at this moment I'm dealing with the issue of my temps and humidity and the price of that bulb is high!( but it seems to be recommended by alot and does a better job than a cheap bulb) but not a this moment maybe once I see how much the rest of my equipment I'll throw it in.....do you have any threads using this bulb for both veg and flowering? if so post them also have you done a comparison?

This is where I got mine... http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/productdetails.aspx?sku=4252961&source=GoogleBase

That's exactly what this thing does... it's only manufacturer I've found that makes anything close to this, all the others are expensive and ugly, not neat and clean.

no threads that I know of but ive used conversion before and the hps eye and hand down for a 600 system the eye kicks ass! the cons lose to much
in the conversion to MH. but if you are using a digital ballast you can use a digi lux MH thats not a conversion I believe. when it come to scrubber I
always buy a combo with flange and fan that rate to fit and be the right cfm all around.

after looking at a few things it does seem to be beneficial I'm considering getting it and testing it out and didn't you say you use it??
