You want something that contains Bacterium Bacillus Thuringiensis.
Fungus Gnat Off Concentrate or Canadian Xpress Nil Nat (TanLin) Concentrate.
Keep an eye on the larvae if they jump about then they could be Springtails, which the above will not work some of these pests are becoming immune too...
:cuss:
looks like it isn't available in the US, just the UK - i've got the mosquito bits, isn't that the same as the BTI? i'm desperate at this stage because seriously if i don't get it under control soon, i might just loose it and toss them all out...but then i'd loose some nice girls so i'd like to not get to that point just yet.

purchasing now. THANK YOU.
Use protekt half strength every water till it clears up,then every other for normal feeding..you'll be surprised at the strength it gives your plant stems..only mild bondage is necessary for the big buds after using it...keep those bennies going to eat up any bad spores fungus ect also...its standard in my regime...

it'll be here saturday. i'm stoked that the gnat nightmare might be coming to an end soon. thanks again. i'll let you know the results :-)

I used this last indoor grow. I left room in the top of my pots and filled them with that stuff left for 4 days to dry out and it's got rid of them. I also had fly strips in the room to catch em. IF YOU USE... YOU HAVE TO REMOVE ALL OF IT BEFORE WATERING OR IT WILL FILL YOUR SOIL AND CAUSE DRAIN ISSUES. I use neem oil once a week.

Sns 209 is an excellent choice to stop many bugs from being interested in your plants or soil. Rosemary works wonders. 2 feedings @ 1/2 tbsp per gallon. Keeps them away longer any any other product I've tried.
$20 Here makes over 60 gallons

Use as a foliar spray as well...
ok. and just to clarify, this is something i can use in flower? ...so i'm sure a question like this is along the lines of is it done/how much longer/two weeks--but about how long do you think it'll be before i notice an improvement in the apocalyptic quantity of gnats?

im not going to ly and say i read through each and every post.. but incase it wasn't yet said if you do have soil gnats i have people that get them all the time here in michigan its simple to take care of first the reason they are there is because the soil is staying too moist.. you need to make sure the soil is drying properly between waters especially the first two top inches thats where they generally reside.. next two things one get yellow sticky fly cards and put one in each grow pot you'll catch about 50% with them most will be older breeding parents so thats a really big thing to do.. next get diatomaceous earth from home depot.. garden store where ever and with your fingers mix and massage it into the top 2 inches of soil in your pot.. d-earth is like little razors they cut the exoskeleton of anything crawling on the soil... which in return dehydrates and kills them.. but it also dehydrates any eggs they may have laid.....

doing all that an making sure that the soil goes dry before each watering will eradicate them...

but from now on when you fill your pots take the potting soil your using and mix diatomaceous earth into the soil before your fill your pots so that its already amended into your soil.. doing that will help kill any eggs that reside in the soil... but also it will be a preventer for anything that gets in.

hello, dealing with these little buggers has gotten to be a nuisance. I thought they were harmless, but come to find out, they are not! the larva feed on your roots, and carry disease, and can contaminate yr entire plant if you let it get out of control....I have read about 1/4 in. sand on top layer, so they cant lay eggs, hmm, not sure I want to drive to the beach...
ive heard of azamax is pretty good, but kinda spendy, and i'm really broke atm, so that's out...
If there was something at home depot that was safe and about 10 bucks, I would do that, this is all I could find there that looked somewhat safe...heres a link...

im just hoping there are more do it yrself type ways of getting rid of them, with out getting rid of my plant. lol any help is always appreciated. thanks for taking the time.

thanks, @phil k i've tried the DE too--i think i'm having such a hard time eradicating the little buggers because of the air-pot's design. i'll probably start getting away from using them until this is over because the pots dry the medium out for the girls rather quickly and some of my smaller containers can't go for more than a day without watering...i've let them all get droopy sad waiting to be watered for several weeks and it just seems they start getting under control and then another hatching or something...

I would not flush or put it into your soil. The diatomaceous earth will clog your soil and you will drain problems. Just cover the top of it. Get mosquito bites and mix it into your water and pour into soil. After they are gone remove as diatomaceous earth a such as you can. But I do all of this when I get em. BUMP

Go hydro...you'll never have another knat or anything except spider mites if you bring 'em in. $40Can for a big bag of grow pellets that can be used over and over again:)

if i was handy, i'd grow DWC; since i also did not start out with a green thumb, soil helped me start learning the plant. as @King Arthur pointed out, i could just be dealing with different types of bugs. you're going to get bugs growing, i'd rather have gnats than aphids or the borg. the springtails bother me sort of but not too bad. they're at a minimum as long as i don't over-water too but again, the air-pots dry out the root system quickly. i do wish i had an actual greenhouse to grow this plant in though--that sure would be nice.
so i've been switching over from the .3 propagator air-pots to red solo cups to start the girls out. wow, there is a difference in watering with them...not having to do it nearly as much. i am seriously leaning toward getting away from the air-pots and heading toward something different. i have a lot of money invested in them though, but i'm getting tired of the daily grind of taking care of the girls. it can be very time consuming. and gone are the days where i just used to sit and stare at them because of the stupid gnats. the less time involved the better now-so i need to reduce the time involved somehow. taking a break in a few months anyway, so it might be a good time to redo the flower area.

obviously you've never used diatomaceous earth properly..... that or you don't know what your talking about...its not going to clog your soil.. where do you even get that? what are you doing dumping 20lbs of d-earth into a 5 gallon? in two cubic feet of soil you maybe put 3 cups ... and why would you use mosquito bits.. ... its a chemical insect toxin....read the labels and its not only chemical its also a "time release" type so its going to leak into your soil for at least a whole month maybe two depending on how long it actually lasts.. bad advice is the worst advice.

use the yellow stick cards and diatomaceous earth.. i am telling you it happens here al the time in michigan i always help people with the issue .. just take like 2 tablespoons dump it into the grow container... lightly massage it into the top inch or so and push it up to the side. ... just make sure its mixed in well to the top inch .. it will look like you sprinkled baby powder on it.. it will be enough alone with the stick cards to start controlling it.. another way is going to be chemical.. the yellow sticky cards and d-earth will work i promise. its not going to eradicate them overnight but in a week or so most will be killed.. but if its for sure soil gnats make sure you are not keeping your soil moist.. thats how they re-breed is moist soil that never dries properly
