Hey guys, it took me a while but just caught up. I am on my second grow and doing a scrog. Last week I noticed some fruit flies flying around, and after doing some research figured out I got some fungus gants. I have 6 plants and only one seems to be suffering. So far I have put yellow sticky traps around the garden and picked up some stuff called Vectobac. Its a BTI used for mosquito larva. So far I kill about 4 adults a day. I only water/feed the plants about every 8 days and was planning on mixing the BTI right into my nutes.Has anyone done this before?? To get a head start I mixed the BTI into a pray bottle and soaked the top layer of the soil on the plant. I will post some pictures later.

One thing that was not really mentioned is prevention. I know not overwatering is one but is there something else you guys to do prevent this problem in the first place???

Yes a lot of people will spray their pesticide on the top layer of their top soil.

I don't think vectobac is a pesticide. VectoBac is based on the naturally occurring active ingredient Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti).I think its the same stuff as Gnatrol.

I've been using Gnatrol mixed a bit with my feeding water, seems to have managed my population. I'm not familiar with your brand, but don't see why you couldn't use it if you could find the correct proportion. That stuff and the sticky traps should do the job, especially since it sounds like your outbreak isn't too bad yet. Under watering had minimal to no noticeable effect on my population.

I looked high and low. Think it was Drfever who found a picture like mine . That was few months back. sand on top of the pots, tape all holes, h020 water, neem bath everything and cut way back on the water, sticky traps, hot shots all seem to do the job .

How many ml do you put into a liter of water. The instructions I got say to use 2ml to 4ml per liter for a small to a medium infestation and 4ml to 8ml for a heavy infestation. Just curious to see if this stuff will raise the total EC of my nute mix. I also put some potatoes slices which I will check this weekend prior to doing the soil drench. Hopefully this will give me an idication which plants to hit harder.

i google ...........root gnat pic.................it showde me a bunch of fungus gnats and one of those stuck to a yellow card.........but im going to look into it more

Go buy some Mosquito Dunks, some hardware stores carry them, farm supply. They have Bacteria Thungrilisis (almost definitely spelled wrong) in them. I alway have a chunk in my reservoir. I seem the gnats like to try and move in a couple times a year and these work great and are good for your plants. I have seen them go bad, I thought the gnats had built up a resistance but I got a fresh pack and no gnats! Since I started using them all the time I will see a gnat every month or so and never in the garden. Also Azamax works as a soil drench, I use it the last time I transplant just once as a preventive measure, that way I should never see a mite or have to spray any buds with anything.

Same stuff as gnatrol. I use gnatrol as directed 2tsp per gallon 2 times a week.
