No offense, but I think this attitude is part of a larger problem.

The american people are disenfranchised, we (anyone left of center) dont feel like our vote matters.

The religious right on the other hand? They absolutely, unequivocally, believe their vote is imperative to saving the heart and soul of this nation. I think their hearts are in the right place, but they believe magic is real and giving to the poor is only good when its not called "socialism."

We have to vote, in spite of the situation, if we are ever going to have a hope of changing it.

Hope is free, but you have to make it yourself.
That's fair, and believe me you're not the only who says that to me after I say I choose not to vote. I just don't like either party much, or big organized political groups in general. I don't particularly trust any of them any more than I trust a car salesman. And I can't put my vote in good conscience behind either party. One candidate might appeal to me more over a certain issue, but then there's everything that comes with their party whether you like it or not. I try to live by my code I guess. It's Ok, I'm out there, i know lol

I totally agree.

Voting local has far more impact in the long run imo

I respect your choice and reasoning, I'm not trying to preach, I swear lol
