I was trying to journal two strains at once. It became a headache. Forgive me for starting over. I'm sure the old journal will fall out of existence soon enough.
The Sannies Killing Fields journal can be found here... https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/588955-6-sannies-killing-fields-f3.html#post8312531

Dr Greenthumb - G13. We have two clones. Each from a different mother grown from seed. I have backups for potential mothers. I am thinking one of these two will produce something to keep around for a while.

They are in 1 qt pots of House and Garden Coco, fed with Dyna-Gro 9-3-6 through veg.

Here are shots of the G13, 1 & 2. at wk2 of veg. These were taken shortly after cutting out a little of the lower growth.

Here is a shot of the veg area. 2 T8 2 bulb 4 foot fluo fixtures over an 18x48" area. 14 plants. The two G13 are on the left end. The others are Killing Fields from Sannies.

They will go into flower this weekend after 3 weeks of veg, shortly after being transplanted to 5 gallon grow bags of H&G Coco. These two will share a 600hps with one other plant.

Big plants, high yield, average smoke. Better for breeding.....good luck with it, they look very healthy!

I know ThC content isnt the end of the story but the 1 time i saw this tested by a grower it came out around 19%....if average is about 11% to 15% as Ive read, then i wouldnt call this average smoke. Nor would I after smoking it. Wouldnt say its my favorite...but Average?...No.

Glad to see you here, Gruber.
SSHZ, we'll see what I can do with them.

I transplanted the G13 cuts into 5 gallon grow bags of House and Garden coco. Watered in with Dyna-Gro 9-3-6, cal mag+, H&G Root Excel and rootballs dusted with Great White.

Here is the flower tent. It is a 9x4 tent with 1800 watts of hps (3 600hps). Drain to waste coco setup. Nothing too fancy.
1800tentwide1201_cleaned.jpg 1800tentwide21201_cleaned.jpg

There are some other plants in with this grow, but this journal will concentrate on the G13's. This grow has 4 plants per 600 hps. Each plant gets a 42 in tomato cage, slightly modified to be 6 inches shorter. The G13 plants are in an "average" spot in the tent. These are spots that seem to produce plants that yield the average throughout the tent. Not the best, not the worst. So based on this grow, you could figure about what these seeds produce per 600hps, at my grow skill level (average), and setup (pretty basic), from clone, with no experience with these genetics.

Super healthy roots... #2 rooted in just 5 days... normally I would say that is nothing too crazy, but that was the first cut from a very young seedling, pre showing sex... Usually before showing sex my clones root super slow. That impressed me. I have noticed vigor is a strength of these seeds.

looking good!
It looks like you have a case of root spinout going...did you score the rootball before transplanting?
When i ran them i vegged for 60 days or so and had my best yeild to date.....very interested in how these do with the shorter veg time.

Gruber, Thanks. I did not score the rootball... I have heard of doing that but I have never myself.

This was 3 weeks of veg from clone... but still... I think they could have used more veg time. They vegged 3 wks in 1 qt pots... flipped 12/12 right after transplanting to 5 gallons...
I have been growing stretchy hybrids for a while now and I sort of approached this plant in the same way I approach my SSH or NL... which was a mistake on my part.
Still, I think I should get some good smoke and a nice mother selected out of this grow. The clones that will come from the mother chosen will definitely get a longer veg time and a larger pot to veg in. I will probably do another journal with the mother I choose... 8 plants under 1200 watts. We'll see.

Here is a little update...
Here we are at the beginning of wk2. The plants have doubled in size. I am hoping that they continue to grow tall and wide for another couple of weeks. They seem really healthy and are looking pretty good.

The plants will get their first feed/water since transplant. They will get Dyna-Gro GROW 7-9-5 and H&G Root Excel, Ph'd to 6.3.

The big difference that I see so far is the way that #1 and #2 branch... I like the looks of the branching on #2 more... #1 looks like the branches want to keep in close to the center of the plant and reach up to the light. #2 has nice bushy branching and spacing of bud sites.

Gruber,
I know it seems weird... but I like to always work from clone... even when working through new genetics in search of a mother. It makes it easier to level the playing field for the other plants they are competing with and gives me a clearer picture of what the potential mothers can offer me in the future. I can already tell that with the next run from these cuts I want to veg 3 wks in 2 qt pots and then veg 1 wk in the 5 gallon pots. All under the T8 fixtures.

Xub,
Thanks man. Yeah, i am liking the growth. I have not done too many bushy indica type plants. They're purdy. They are branching so nicely too.

Week 3

Here we are at the first day of week 3, flower. These plants are great. I am enjoying growing them.

They doubled in height again this week. If I could get another 6 inches of height out of them that would be perfect.

#2 had some issues mid week 2. I believe it was some micro nutrient deficiencies, due to excessive N locking them out... the NL plants in this grow had the same issues. I think I got them back on the right track though.

I previously was not liking the branching from #1, but it has spread out a bit more and really looks good. #1 looks like the kind of branching that can really fill a level canopy nicely and avoid much popcorn. It reminds me a lot of my old SPG plant, but bigger.
#2 branching is pretty nice too though. Both of these plants are putting out growth that I would be happy to play with more in the future.

#1 is putting on little buds quickly... #2 is a little behind. This could be genetic, but it also could be the micro nutrient struggles that #2 started around day 9 of flower.

I will pick out just a little lower and inner growth (bud sites) this week. Like I said before... my garden takes in pretty raw outdoor air and the humidity can jump up over night. I want to keep the trouble spots free of growth.

Here are some pics... Day 15 of flower (week 3)

Makes sense to me....may have to try that myself.

Wow, sticking around real intrigued in the outcome! Really liking the amount of detail in the journal "taking notes"

Indicantonio,
I checked out your journal the other night. You're killing it with that 4x4... nice clean setup too. I'll be watching your work, for sure.

Well, I got about another 4 inches of growth in 2 days, after a nice mellow feeding with some bloom nutes and Ca Mg...
I'm thinking the veg time was just about perfect after all. 3 wks in 1 qt pots is prbly what I will stick with in the future.

Edit 2 days later...
Another 2 inches of growth overnight... these ladies are really blowing up..
The update about 10 days from today should be the first real bud shots.

Those plants look nice. My buddy and I split on a pack when it was first released. Didn't impress me and I didn't keep it. My friend on the other hand has been growing it for close to 2 years now. I'd say he got his hundred dollar investment out of it.

Good looking stuff. That is a big ol' tent. On the other hand I have a few g13 that I was thinking of doing outside since they are regs. The roots on yours just made my idea that they would be good outdoors even more solidified. Any objections?

Jack,
This tent is big, I love it. The best thing is that it is 8 feet tall. No one makes them that tall anymore. The top of the tent is just 6 inches or so from the ceiling in my room. It is just enough room to run ducting between the top of the tent and the ceiling in the room.
This is my first g13 grow, so, I don't have experience to speak from with these G13s. But I bet these things would blow up outdoors.

Need more money,
I picked up a pack of G13 seeds from Dr Greenthumb a little while back... the site says 2 for $200, but you get 3 seeds. They are S1 seeds so you should get all females.
No question... $66-100 per seed is pretty damn expensive. If I was on a budget I would not have picked them up...
Imo, the doc is running a retail business and he can charge whatever he wants, just like a customer can buy or not buy whatever they want... I saw the price, I went for it...
As a grower whose interests are mostly in genetics, the only available S1 G13 seeds were something I had to try.

Doobius,
I've heard a lot of people use the word "average". I'm thinking most have been talking about potency... We'll see what I can do with them.
I actually roll 1/2 tobacco 1/2 mj joints quite often... I like to smoke on something... I can only get 2-3 hits in on most of my plants until I get too high to stay productive. So, average potency would not be a problem for me... Honestly, even low potency would not bother me... i don't think this is going to come out to a low potency plant though. I'm thinking 1 plant here should turn out beyond "average"... we'll see.
My largest concern with these plants will be mold/fungus resistance. I know Gruber lost an enormous plant, and my grow uses quite a bit of raw outdoor air.
