I would wait until more of the hairs turn orange because the last I saw you said there were only 10% orange which seems to be a bit young. Just remember though they got $12 handhelp microscopes at radioshack that a lot of people say work fine to see the trichomes. Otherwise wait until about 80% of the hairs turn orange.

40's is getting low, but if its only that cold during the dark hour, your fine. It will still finish up. You dont want to smoke premature bud once you have waited this long. It just will take a little longer, and possibly turn purple.

If it starts getting below 40 constantly during the night I would consider it, but it should be fine. It got real cold 30s last year and my friend had a plant outside that was ok and even got some purple. Just keep an eye on her, look for signs of stress, and just be patient it will pay off.
