Garbage can grow?

ive seen/heard about garbage grows but i was curious as to if the results are worth it.

how big of a plant/yield can you get with 2 garbage cans full of dirt with 1 bean in each?

i was curious as it would be fun to grow 2 massive plants (each under their own 600w hid light).

what could one accomplish by doing this?

this is purely me being curious.

Like Nike says" Just do it "....and you will See the results ....and if you do post pics of "oscar the grouch....in his can" lol seriously though....

I don't think it is size of container as light and growing conditions would have a better shot than just the size of the pot!!! i would like to see this???

how would the size of the pot not matter? more soil = more root development = bigger mj plant = bigger yield = happy grower.

im talking like 20-30 gallon garbage can...i do 5 gallon pots now.

for growers in places where they are limited in plant counts, many many folks have had very good success using the trashcan method combined with much longer veg times... 3 months or 4 months of veg plus serious attention to lighting (penetration is an issue after they are more than 3 feet tall) will reliably yield 4 oz per plant or much much more... i've seen a few monsters yield almost a cured pound per plant (genetics, technique, and nutes are the main points at hand there)... so try it for a few grows! it will take at least three for you to get it dialed right (unless you're lucky) but then you will crush... some of my west coast boys grow one plant per 4x4 tent... good luck, and pix please!

If you do this, you should highly consider side-lighting with T5's or some CFL's. I always thought it would be badass to have :

HID Lamp
T T
5 Plant 5

T5's on either side of the plant. Two 4' 4-bulbs would work nicely. This with some tactful leaf-tucking to reveal all bud-sites possible could yield very good results.

That formatted my diagram weird, but essentially it's a HID above the plant and two T5's to either side.

oh i get what you mean. that sounds badass. ive had that thought go through my head but i laughed it off as i was inexperienced at the time. to an extent still am...havent even done this a year but its so much fun. that hardest part for me is picking good strains because there are so many and my funds have been short so my decisions are difficult. if only money wasnt an issue.

i'm thinking of adding t5's to my all led grow for supplemental side lighting... now that i'm growing trees, i need a little something to get down and on the sides... the colas are coming out sweet and huge, but the popcorn is still just popcorn, and making hash out of is only is fun for so long, you know??? hids just are too damn hot for my babies, and they don't yield enough (more than i'm yielding currently) for me to justify the heat, expense, and overall fussiness of any hid system IMO...
