FYI...Some folks may be familiar with this fellow. He's a gardener and soil/plant scientist. His writings don't specifically deal with growing weed. However, he does have a vast understanding of gardening and the do's and don'ts. I've gleaned some information from him. Maybe some folks from here will too.
You may have to search through his various posts to find what's relevant to you.

I've linked to some of his stuff and was demeaned by some of the cannabis broscience experts that just won't admit that all those shiny bottles of products they use are not needed. The fact is that he uses actual science to dispel many myth's not just among cannabis growers but overall gardening as well.

An example would be vitamin B1 which many cannabis growers believe gives spectacular results when in fact the myth has been refuted by actual scientists for decades. But you'll find cannabis growers that swear it does wonders and won't even bother to read papers from people with Ph.D's that have conducted actual scientific studies and instead choose to listen to some dude on youtube pushing snake oil products.

It may not be for everyone. However, new knowledge is not a harmful thing. That being said, everyone is free to choose what works for them. I'm glad that his site has provided useful information for you though.

Actually there's not much on that site that I didn't already know was a myth. I've been gardening for 50 years and grew my first cannabis plant over 40 years ago. I've always kept things simple and never bought into all the snake oil and practices that had no scientific basis but instead have just been passed on from person to person. The origins of many are unknown. I believe in science.

I like the authors gardening philosophy although I'm not in 100% agreement. Like bugs and diseases. I don't think you have to live with them although you don't need expensive products to control them. There are plenty of home remedies just as effective as commercial products for a fraction of the cost. I'm also a big fan of KISS. Both keeping it simple and the rock band. :bigjoint:

I highly recommend The Biggest Little Farm documentary. It's a moving story, beautifully shot and every time I have a problem in the grow my wife mentions the title and it makes me see the light. Judging by you post I think you will really enjoy it.

As you folks seem to me to be knowledgeable gardeners, I'm hoping that you may be able to help me identify an issue that I'm having with a couple of plants. It appears that I'm have some sort of leaf mutation. The plants are growing fine other than that. They are about 2-3 weeks into flowering. Terpenes are already present as well as early trichomes. The leaves are seemingly miss shaped and not fully formed in some places. I immediately looked for insects with magnification and found none. Also, I plucked a few leaves and rubbed the back sides across a sheet of white paper and found no smears of insects or blood from insects. The PH is 6.5 and I haven't over fed them. This is a first for me and I'm stumped. Please see the attachments. Thanks for any insights that you may be able to provide.

I've had a couple plants over the years that exhibited the same symptoms. I don't know what caused it as it has always just been one plant while others grew just fine. Some say it's mosaic virus but I'm not sure about that. I do know that when I've had a plant grow like that it never amounted to much and was a poor harvest. I doubt there is much you can do about it other than just let it grow. If there are no bugs it's likely just some weird mutation. Almost looks like broad or russet mites but that wouldn't explain the variegation and the deformation in the 4th picture. Also, when I've had plants like that no other plant was effected. Is it just that one plant?

Watched Symphony of The Soil last night. There is another one I would highly recommend. Saw another poster mentioning it and I would highly recommend for anyone interested anyone interested in no till and a history of soils...formation, farming practices act. One a side note it was produced by Deborah Koons Garcia, which is neither here nor there just a interesting tidbit.

I don't have an answer for you but the leaves look similar to a tomato plant I had a couple years ago that had some round-up drift. Wasn't enough to kill the plant but leaves were deformed and would get dried out at the ends.

I just watched the trailer. That's definitely on my list to watch.

The more I learn the more I realize how I've been killing my soil with chemical fertilizers. The push that got me focused restoring my soil is a conversation with my niece who's working on her PhD in in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. Last time she visited we talked at length about soil, it's health, and natural methods to replace chemicals. I have several raised beds I grow vegetables in and this last growing season I went all organic in one of them only using compost and EWC I collected from a ghetto worm bin I have. That organic bed outperformed the others that I used chemical fertilizers on. The plants were healthier and I had one of the best harvest of peppers and beets that I've ever had in decades of gardening.

Next summer I'll be 100% organic. I'm fascinated by what I've been learning and regret that I hadn't gone down this path years ago.

I found this interview with soil scientist Rick Haney to be very enlightening.

It's two plants that I'm growing in Pro Mix HP Mycorrhizae. They are both from the same breeder and I'm suspecting some bad genetics in this batch of seeds. Both strains have a purple component which is common in several of their strains. They still seem to be growing okay. So, I think your advice is spot on. Thanks
