I'm using garlic. just peel a clove. stick it in the dirt with the pointy end out of the dirt about a 1/4 of an inch. I've had no bugs at all since I started doing this. I can't say for sure it's the garlic but I've had no bugs at all since I started using it.

Nice. I use neemoil too and I find sometimes I just can't get rid of them with it. I also hang a pest strip that is supposed to be a slow release airborne strip that slowly kills them off. If you are also looking for something organic, I grow wormwood outdoors. I just read that if you add boiling water to wormwood and let it steep it makes an incecticide. I haven't tried it yet, but nothing ever eats that plant so I wouldn't be surprised.

Not sure about the insects, but garlic will def keep animals like cats away. I use it to keep cats out of my garden, dont use garlic cloves but a sprinkle powder with a garlic extract in it, found it in local store along with standard incest repelants, it works.

I would use 1 or 2 clove per plant out side. I don't think there is any reason to cut it up I think it works fine as a whole clove. you could also spray your plants with a 50/50 mix rubbing alcohol and water it don't hurt the plants and the bugs hate it.
