Gavita 300w Plasma full spectrum light

Hi, has anyone used a plasma light through out the entire veg and flower cycle?? They are amazing in veg because of the massive blue part but apparantly the red part drops off at the far end of the spectrum.

Any one got ideas????

These lights are so new and expensive I dont think they are on many peoples radar yet. I'm waiting to see the pricing on gavita's fan cooled unit but a good chance its still way too much.
Chameleon's flagship unit has two lamps and a bunch of led panels to help in the red but its uber $$$
I'd just run it with a smaller hps beside...?

Oh also, this LEP (light emitting plasma) is so new that there are only a few bulb manufacturers who have just gotten into second generation product and still havent developed a bulb higher in the red, most applications for LEP are elsewhere and prefer the higher colour temperature. but I'm sure they will find a way to increase the red spectrum eventually.

Phillips makes the bulb I believe. They are not a small company. They have 3,000 light green house gardens in Holland I have seen with them. I saw an aero white rose garden there with 750watter Gavitas and it was NASTY!

Well if the red spectrum drops off and there are a lot of blues... expect resin over yield. Which is more important anyway :)

This is a 200w plasma for a commercial building application. The 2 lights on the left are MH1000Watters, the 1 on the right is plasma, this video is taken with a camera phone. Obviously way brighter. Keep in mind, plasma has the closest light spectrum to the sun. http://youtu.be/3q-AfbDyHFU

monster grow lights any one use them? got a video on youtube the guy selling them is mostly using them for veg vs flower... he suggests an hps for quantity but his plasma light for quality... so he wants you to use his light on the side of your hps to make a better grow i suppose.

Monster grow lights sells Gavita and Stray plasma lights. Stray is the 2nd generation plasma. Gavita has been making lights for a long time. They develop their product in Holland...

Any other word on these plasma lights? Guy at my local store was singing their praises up and down, and they don't even sell them...he said one 300w plasma equalled 1200 hps.

(That's a see it to believe it, I'm sure :)

Anyone have any new thoughts?

Not running a 300 but I have had 1 harvest from my plasma
Lights and they seem to work great! Nodes were close together
Seemed to grow ALOT faster in both cycles the buds are dense,
An look great as well as smell an smoke amazing! I Would Recomend
Going "cheap" the first time though , the lights are relitavly new and
Are really expensive an different to grow with.

Anyone have more info on what part of the red spectrum is lacking?

I'm picturing plasma from above with PAR T5's on the sides...

Gavita's bulb module is made by luxim which is an independant startup as far as is know and they seem to be the leader in LEP right now also making the bulbs for chamelion and a couple others. I dont know what ceravision or phillips are up to but rumours are that they are close to bringing products to market which should help drop prices. From the spectrum graphs I have seen the LEP although not great in the reds is still as good as a hps... im going to wait till i can get a 300w plasma for about $600. hopefully its only a couple years away.
I found gavita's fan cooled unit for $1000.

Luxim also has their module in the Stray plasma. The gavita has a lens which blocks harmful UV's from affectign the plants. It is the beez knees of lights! You can touch the lens with your fingers, it runs super cool. Played with one today. I have 2 on the way..

I am sooooooo jealous!
Are you gonna use them flower and veg?

Plasma only in veg, for every plasma you gotta have a dual sided Gavita HPS 1000 Watter in flower. At least some HPS in flower! Helps with yield.
Makes sence. I bet you could get away with even a 400w or two hung vertically in the plants to help with the reds.
Chameleon's website says they are working on led panels to help in the red. That should be cool, literally. In a small space a plasma w/ led's helping in the red... super cool temps guaranteed!

Qucik list off the top of my head some plasma manufaturers

Gavita - Pro 300 LEP
Chameleon Grow Systems - Solar Genesis I
Chameleon Grow Systems - Solar Genesis II (two bulbs)
Stray Light - plasma grow
Stray Light - Venus

All above use Luxim's light engine.

Hydropopnics hut - 50w plasma
Looks cool and different but cinda low power.

Depends. If you are growing in a tent or closet, I agree, some red led is pretty perfect. For large grows, I think a 4 light mover, that simply rotates is best. This is easy using Gavita lights, the ballast, element and hood are all attached. It is much easier to rotate a complete system then just rotate a hood/bulb. I plan on using a 1:1 ratio for my plasma lights, per recommended by Gavita. What is the stray light - venus? Also, don't forget, just like HID there are commercial applications you can use to convert HID hoods and use Induction lighting conversion kits.
