Dying to switch to theses!! Can anyone using them tell me if the 5' x 5' footprint efficient? Can I get more sq footage without sacrificing too much?

I've never used them but I heard the foot print is huge!! Like 15x15 & they keep them way higher from the top of the plants. Jus what I heard at the hydro shop from another grower...

I love mine.
How much head room you have? That's why most people can't use them.

For your footprint you measure, watts-per-sq-ft. The larger your footprint, the less light each plant will get.
If you don't have the headroom for gavitas, sunlight makes an air-cooled reflector for double-ended bulbs that work great.

(I let the local store owner talk me into knock-off gavitas, obviously because he has better margins on them.
I was extremely hesitant. One grow in, one isn't working. Total bullshit. Wow, 3-year warranty - so I won't have any trouble exchanging
these pieces of shit a few times a year. Don't cut corners.)

a lot of guys on a few other forums (thcfarmer and icmag) are tearing it up with gravitas, and the nanolux de 1000k units with huge yeilds. the gravitas and nanolux NEED a 8' ceiling and each will light up a 5x5 perfectly. they even offer a remote ballast as well.

if I can find a 120v 600 de that doesn't need an 8' ceiling, ill pull the trigger on 3 of them. most 600's are 240v only.

Use the ac/de reflector with a gavita, nano etc DE ballast. Using a stand alone gavita generates way to much heat. Keep the light 26" from your canopy and you will get that 5x5 foot print your looking for with excellent par.

I run 3 gavita's in 12x6.5x8 room and pull some pretty awesome numbers. I mount them to the ceiling. Gavita builds the 600/750 unit that will run 850w on overdrive. They recommend that unit for ceiling heights 8' and under. Get prepared to feed your plants more as well.

I just wrapped up a flower of two plants within a 5x5 tent under a Govita Pro DE(@1150w) without AC. The performance of the light met and exceeded all of my expectations to include the "hype" behind HPS DE bulbs in general. Govitas can be tamed, just be prepared and have the skill set to deal with the extremes of such gardening.

Do you find the glue to be a heavy eater? I'm on my first run of it and it's fading a little sooner than other strains I have along side it.

Nice pics btw!

I think she's a bit more CalMag dependent than most, especially when using RO water/filtration. These ladies were simply in dirt, but ate quite a bit mostly due to the intensity of the Govita.
hey guys I'm using gavitas with RO water and having some major def issues i believe that I'm not used to from led's. looks like P and calmag. do you guys feed every time?, i feel like I'm feeding too much, but I'm also not used to this intensity either... do they feed like crazy? they drink everyday, and i feed every other time half strength from feed sched. my temps been 82ish also. need a new AC.

Pics would help. If you're using RO and not adding any Cal/Mag back, that could be a problem. I'd at least do the recommended feed schedule under the extremes of HPS DE lighting, that may be an issue as well.

I've been using them for a few years. Just recently sold the old ones and switched to the newer e-series.

There lighting pattern isn't square, and isn't designed to be. Its much wider on the sides. Although, there are numerous growers doing very well with this setup.

I've spoke with tech support numerous times on larger setups, the right overlap and corners make lighting uniformity troublesome.

You can use them on 8ft ceilings but there is a reccomended minimum distance from light to plant (for different wattages.)

Personally, I don't use anything other than Gavita anymore, and there master controllers make a nice addition if you have the cash.

Head gets hot quick if you're working under them. Gotta be quick or stay low if you need to get in and clean or move girls around.
