Gender Help - Male or Hermaphrodite?

Hello, friends.

I tend to just lurk, since most of the questions I have have been asked already. I am sure this one has too, but I could use some advice that is specific to my plants.

I am attaching pictures of the plant I am referring to. I am on day 30 of my very first grow*. I was having some ventilation problems that I have now fixed (to the best of my knowledge - it seems to have made a difference. I also think I had my CFL's too close. I read so much about making sure they were close enough that I think I overdid it!

This ugly little bastard has been the runt from the start. Anyway, as you will notice the leaf tips are dried out from nute burn or overheating. Yesterday, to be safe I gave this little fella a heavy watering (or light flush, guess it's a matter of perspective) and it perked right up. It actually showed quite a noticeable improvement between yesterday and today. But it's got male buds now. It wouldn't surprise me if it were a hermie because I stressed it out, but I am not sure if I see any female flowers. But I am also admittedly very new to this.

To be honest I will be excited if it turns out to be a male, since I was planning to get some Gibberellic Acid to produce some pollen anyway. Sorry to ramble, and feel free to ask any clarifying questions. I need to start a grow journal. I have it in a Word document, just gotta post it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ahh, shit. I forgot to explain my asterisk. I am just curious about what the standard method of counting is for determining which day you are on. I germinated these right in their pots (and got 5 out of 5 to pop - beginner's luck!), and count the day I planted them as Day 1. Is that the right way to do it, so I know for future reference?

That could have turned hermie from stress easily. I don't see female flowers so it could be male - the most obvious ;O).

This is a photo of a hermie - might help you to decide.
