ok, so i have 4 2 ft long fluorescent tube lights. 2 are 10,000 lumens and im not sure what the other 2 are, but they are bright as hell but white... i have one shwag plant growing just to test the lights, soil, ferts, etc. it is growing in a small closet area and i want to know EVERYTHING i might need to know. I have a light timer that works great. i had the plants on 12/12 at first but changed it to 16/8 recently. the plant sprouted about 2-3 weeks ago and it seems to be doing great( growing fast, green and full) the soil im using is Miracle Grow Potting Mix, it has a nitrogen lvl of .21% and a pH of .07% i also bought a nitrogen fert(Blood Meal) the walls inside the closet are white and i have the opposite side of the closet covered with a silver sided tarp. i have a fan inside the enclosed area as well, i also would like to know if i should make that fan suck in fresh air( if possible lol) The luorescent lights have a ballsat as well. i need to know when to start feeding it the nitrogen supplement, how much and how often. i have 2 AWESOME seeds that im waiting on because i dont wanna fuck them up. If you have any tips of just things I should know, that would be very helpful. Also im trying to keep them short (less than 5 ft) I read a little on how you cut the nodes but still dont totally understand the whole concept and exactly WHAT to cut and WHEN its ok to cut... I need to know how to throw them into the flowering stage( probably by lessining the light?) and when mto do it. I appreciate the help, and Happy Smoking!:leaf:

you want to keep lights on 24 hours during vegitation. or 18 on and 6 off. personally, i believe 24 hours is better. you'll flower by changing light cycle to 12/12. keep those flouro's as close as you can to avoid stretching. like 1-3" away, just dont burn leaves. make sure ph of your water is balanced. that's very important. needs to be between 6.2-6.8. you should be using vegitative fertilizer. try foxfarms lineup. or jacks, etc. start at 1/4 strength on the nutes, then work up gradually. if possible, get 1 fan blowin in, and 1 blowin out. you want just a gentile breeze, not a hurricane. wait till about a month old to start nutes....good luck

So as of now, Im going to want to keep the lights on 24hrs? I have a kit to test the ph the nitrogen and some other stuff as well so ill check it out and see what i need to add/remove. Im gunna move the plant closer to the lights because theor actully not that hot at all so ill see how that goes. Where can i get these furts at? im kinda confused on the whole NUTES thing as well... what do u mean by 1/4 strength on the nutes? Hey, and thanks for the quick reply!

again, yes, leave lights on 24 hours a day. get nutes at hydro shop near you (look some up), or go to home depot, lowes etc. and look for a vegitative fertilizer. on the nutes you buy.... as an example... it'll say "add 2 tablespoons per gallon". instead of doing that, you'll add only 1/4 of that amount to your water, then feed plants. so that'd be 1/2 tablespoon. start with that, then gradually work your way up to full dose. your going to need to either stint that stem so she can support herself, or dig her up, and plant her father down in container. you only want like 1/4- 1/2 " of the stem above ground. that happened because lights were not intense enough.... thus, she stretched to get as close as possible to light....... read what i wrote you on your homepage. good luck :)

Ok, so i pulled her out of the pot she was in and gave her new soil and dug her deeper. the soil is close to the bottom leaves. i also added 1/4 tbsp of Blood Meal (nitrogen nute) because it asked for like a full tbsp for every sqft... which i will slowly raise, but when and how often should i give them the nutes?

very cool...she'll be much more stable now. :) you can give nutes, starting at 1/4 when plant is about 3 weeks-month old. you mix the recommended amount of nutes in (1/4 of recomendation to start) with your water, and pour onto soil until water drips out of drainage holes in container. wait to water again until top 2" of soil is dry(push your finger 2" down to check) if it's moist at all there, wait another day and check again. it's nearly impossible to overwater using that method. to use the nutes, you can use a routine of water, water, nute, water, water, nute. -which is watering 2 times for every 1 time you give nutes. keep a journal of what you did and the date. water the plant, when it's dry, water it again. next time it's dry, give it water and nutes, etc. you can use that method to start or try giving nutes every other time you water. so water, let dry, nutes, let dry, water, etc. see how much your plant can handle. trial and error :) good luck

Looks good Solo. I'd add a word of caution about your current nutrient schedule. I'm on my first grow, so take it with a grain of salt:

I'm growing outdoors in a 3 gallon pot. I used the miracle gro potting mix with the 3 month supply of nutes (my journal is linked to my signature if you want to check it out). That soil arguably comes with all of the necessary nutes your plant will need for 3 months. I didn't add any nutes until right around the 3 month mark. Looking back, I think I should have started adding N (via fish emulsion) around 2 1/2 months. In any event, the plant got huge, stayed green and healthy for the entire 3 months.

I just don't want you to get nute burn from too much N at this young stage. However, you could be okay with the minimal dosage outlined by ijustgrowGREEN. With that amount, you should be able to see any nute burn and adjust accordingly. Just something to be aware of. Happy growing!

Hey, thx for the advise. The only thing is that i dont want to wait 3 months+ for my plant to get the nutes to start budding. since im growing indoors, i have a constant light on and nutes to get fast results and SMALLER bushy plants.
