My hobby is growing and need a place to discuss general questions on edible making. All edibles/sublingual from canna butter to nano tech and tinctures.

Vaping/edibles are the future. Here is where meds meet food too. Discuss reciepes and new ones not discussed yet. How to perfect them. A place to be innovative.

So to start this off, this is what made me want to make the thread. I never seen this. Had a wild thought that what if you fresh froze and somehow made edibles. Interesting…

Some questions. How much terps you think is lost during decarb? What you think of this in general? But if you decarb rosin, hash rosin, etc, you lose the same amount of terps or more no?

Edit I decarbed super stinky weed the more terps the better the oil was. So still strikes me as worth trying. About to harvest Friday and try it on a small amount.

Well there ya have it! Fresh frozen edibles. I learned I shouldnt coffee grind the weed and squeeze it dry or else it burns my stomach. Was told its too much plant material. So I didnt even squeeze the cheese cloth and its already a nice color.

I consider infusion also extraction so I stir to help knock heads into the oil. Or the oil in them. I took a table spoon of it.

Its different. It actually taste good instead of blue green algae or sea weed. Ive came a long way only to screw up last few batches. If this hurts my stomach idk why then.

It was dried to a crisp after 40 mins and infused for 20mins. Idk if my last oils were stronger since it at least had all the meds in it but its like pressing rosin. The more you try to yield the crappier the end product. Also with washing bubble.

Im buzzin differently. More terps? Fresher cannabinoid background? @BrassNwood what you think of all this? At the very least its a nice insta-high method for those looking for a early endulgence in harvest.

I've tried making fresh several times as well as shaking just dried for dry ice Hash. It's not my ideal stone. Jumpy, edge of my seat feeling. I need more of a mellow, less choppy ride. I've had 13 years to fine tune my Hash capsules to suit my personal taste and everybody I share them with rave about them or swear at me for the too deep dive they took on it. LMAO

Nice. Yea this stuff is medicinal to me idk whats different other than less material than usual and fresh frozen and didnt coffee grind. Gental straining.

Usually in evening is a no for me it wakes me up all night but this batch actually provides a sleep aid. I wake up with that refreshed feeling. I slept better. The high is super calming opposite of what you describe.

I struggle to get high from edibles but when I do its usually the same two or three kinds of feeling. This one is like rso or nano tech I quickly just want to nap or look forward to it and it helps keep me asleep.

I really dont know but I couldnt stop getting stomach burn from coffe ground weed or quezy feeling with the smallest doses. This has not done that at all. I ate a crap ton too, half a cup chocolate in two days.

Edit the butter is coconut and 20% sunflower lecithin so most the color is the lecithin/coco. Its still pretty colored considering the amount and minimal agitation/break down of plant material.

It's so interesting how edibles affect people differently, even more so than smoking. For me I also have to be careful how late I take them, but it's because I end up sleeping too soundly and have a hard time getting up the next day. There's a window from about 5 to 9 pm where I can take them and they don't ruin my evening or the next morning.

Most of my weed-related projects I try to keep as low-effort as possible, so I've just been doing an ounce of broken up buds, a couple grams of CBD isolate (optional), and a pint of coconut oil, in the crockpot on high for 2 hours, stirring two or three times, left to cool overnight, then strained through a cheesecloth. The oil in the crockpot gets up to about 250-260F so plenty hot to decarb the bud. Serving size for me is around a teaspoon.

I've wondered if doing it this way retains more of the terpenes or other unique qualities of the strain, vs decarbing in the air (oven). I think the jury is still out on that one, but at least it's one less step in the process.

Also, highly recommend adding CBD isolate to edibles. It doesn't reduce the effect but makes it come on a bit more gently (at least for me). Without it, at some point a couple hours after consuming the oil I'm like, "oh shit I'm really high" but with the added CBD that doesn't seem to happen...

Looking back I really wasnt feeling high its weird, like my body had to learn what to do with it. Whats cool though is it hits me immediately, literally. Some say possibly terps and meds getting through sublingually as I chew it and etc.

Who knows, the method I use might keep the bud at a higher temp for longer resulting in more CBN. My crockpot on low gets the oil to around 200F, and high setting keeps it around 260 which is a bit too warm. I kinda shoot to get it above 240 for 45-60 mins, then turn it off, but I'm sure it takes longer for the temp to drop vs taking it out of the oven.

I think I tried sunflower lecithin one time but didn't really notice anything different. However, also not sure if I got the ratio right, mixed it at the right time, etc.

If you notice a difference with the lecithin, what kind do you use, how much, when do you add it, etc?

Yea I learned it from the same person just 20% of oil volume to be lecithin. Ive tried sunflower and soy the sunflower may taste a bit off putting where as the soy is sweet, the soy is highly estrogenic.

Im a guy so thats not good I was warned against it and saw some gross pics. Ive seen people say they dont see a difference where as BrassNwood’s hash lacithin capsules he said people have gave outrageous reports.

For me it simply allowed me to get high on typical thc edibles where as dispensaries use pure thc distillate no full spectrum, very weak, no effects. Even with hash rosin edibles, nothing.

Wasnt until I tried the trick and with several months of eating almost daily that I started to feel a buzz. Hard to describe, its a different animal. I dont get tapped out high though, just eat myself sober or slightly sick.

Id compare it to a weed buzz if you vape only hash for over a year which I did. This last batch had me feeling like the tin man from wiz of oz with lubricated joints finally if I recall a scene correct. Vikodin buzz? Idk.

You just infuse it like you would normally, mix with coco and put weed in it to infuse in oven. I put a bowl on lowest simmer on stove to get the lecithin and oil homogenized if that means one consistancy.

Pre emulsified, what ever lol. So in a crockpot youd just thow it in, Id say since its based on time and making the butter stronger sitting in heat for longer time, Id imagine all that much more lecithin activity.

Idk if you know how it works, I barely do. Just look up liposomal encapulation or something like that its a method of delivery slightly better. Increased bio availability. Its good stuff.

I never bothered to waste time and a batch doing it without lecithin, like I said Ive just been stuck getting good enough results the same method. I just know it would of worked from the store and it didnt.

Ive tried nano tech and rso it doesnt do much to me. Im one of those people built to have infenate edibles. I tried eating like 5gs live resin decarbes/lecithin. I truely cannot surpass a certain level.

Just like weed smoking sober it literally just kills it. Ive had that many times even with dabs, sometimes you or at least me, that next hit makes me literally sober if I had a reasonable stone going already.

Dabs are less a problem but it still happens after a long day of getting high.

I got several sleep issues that my last batch is actually helping I really need to keep making that. My last few batches were bunk from coffee grinding but also using rosin pucks with a lot of its oil stripped out to where even the rosin has issues.

Trim and leaf with no meds on it. Dry sifted bud trimmer trim, just junk now that I see it. Maybe it has a chance if I use pucks that have enough oil left behind, fresh nugs, fresh frozen nugs.

For the first time Im actually treating something with it which hasnt happened. Used to weed being the problem lol. It also can occupy me during day and use less dabs.

Idk why weed and dabs back to back spoil the appetite but dabs and lecithin edibles go hand in hand for me.

Maybe the first collect of heads making it into the oil and being encapulated by lecithin bubbles just making for a quality medicine. Not even that much starting material.

I have a slightly different method of decarbing and infusing. This is all about time and temperature.

Ovens, crock pots, and toaster ovens all vary in their temperatures. If my oven is set at 242 it heats to about 265 and then drops to 138 before the burner comes back on.

This is my sleep oil and how I make it:
I know that I am going to loose about a quarter of a cup of oil when it's strained. That's just the way it is. So, I add an extra 1/4 cup of oil and 1/4 once of budd.
I use a pint jar with a metal lid with a pinhole in it to let out the steam.
My recipe is:
1 1/4 cup MCT
1 1/4 once budd (I have enough that I use trimmed budd.)
I then heat a pan of mineral oil to 250 on the stove top. Water won't get hot enough.
I heat the jar of MCT and budd in the microwave for about 30 seconds at a time until it reaches about 225F. That's about where the decarb starts and you may see some small bubbles.
Put the lid on the jar and put it in the mineral oil. The oil will cool down to about the right temp, 242F when the jar in put in.
let it cook at 242 for 2 hours.
Strain, but don't squeeze. I take what drains easily and the rest drains for a day or two. If you squeeze it you will probably get that awful green taste.
After the oil is infused and drained the lecithin is added. 10% to 20%.

One additional thing, put a piece of tape over the pinhole in the lid. It can keep the turps in and act as a safety blow off valve, as well as keep the mineral oil out. Remember, the mineral oil came from the laxative dept at the drug store.

Do you guys use liquid or powdered lecithin? I think when I tried it I used powdered and had a hard time getting the mixture to be homogenous.

And do you think the amount of lecithin is based on the amount of oil? Or the amount of bud? I'm a relative lightweight and it sounds like your mixes are much stronger than what I'd normally make

Powder sunflower lecithin I just melt it with coconut on low on the stove and stir. 1 tablespoon Oil = 1/2 teaspoon Lecithin. Yes amount matters 20% minimum. Amount of bud I found doesnt matter I used to do 14gs per half cup oil but found less could do just as good.

I found my oven is actually accurate and messing with temps trying to get it more accurate was just messing it up. It kept over correcting because the gauge I bought to calibrate it just reads slowerif I give it a minute it will match. My oven never fails decarb even when I didnt have the best temps.

I need to make more of this stuff. Anyone know why it makes me so gloomy and sleep so well? Super melatonin. Is like a tylonal/advil after a long day harvesting or pressing rosin.

I got serious sleep issues and this stuff really helps. Helps body aches. Lots of stuff.
