For those of you who havent seen my previous posts or journal, hi, i am Green Troll, and i am green in more than one way
I have started my very first grow from seed, and while my little babies grow, i have been doing some rather solid research in various methods of growing. Mainly looking at the most efficient way of getting great results.
Now i started out using coco, but now i am looking at hydroponics. I have 5 seedlings currently, in coco, so my chance to use rockwool etc has passed.
So here is the plan. I want to grow my current 5 plants into mothers, all of them (so long as i dont have any sickly plants), and take 1-2 cuttings from each to not stress them out, and flower the clones.
So my questions are these:
1) Since i have started growing in coco, is it a bad idea to put a clone through a different medium than the mother is used to? Is the genetics of the plant accustomed to coco now?
2) If so, what are the side effects of changing mediums?
3) I was told in a hydroponics store that coco is technically a hydroponic medium, is this true? It doesnt sound right to me.
4) I am currently aiming at a PH of 6.5 but i am told hydro solutions should be around 5.8, will the clones be used to the PH the mother was brought up on? Will this cause stress/problems?
Now for some other general questions
5) Do plants vegging give out a smell? Say you have a nice, big, strong 3 months old mother plant you always keep in veg, does it still smell of weed? Or is it only when it flowers?
6) When my mother gets big, and she gets pot bound, can she stay that way and still be healthy? Does being pot bound ONLY mean she will stop growing any larger? or will she get stressed?
7) If she does get stressed, does this effect the genetics of the clones?
The strain i am growing is Super Iced Grapefruit. Thanks guys. As always, +rep for helpful answers.
