Genetic Engenering

Righ GM crops are all the range why not GM weed!

I have an idea of setting up a company able of producing cannabis seeds.

firstly i would like to know how do they now what genes do what.

secondly if i can get to grips with this how many people would like GM weed. For example where you send in your request and withing two weeks you get the seeds you want. i mean within reason i don't think a 50 ft tall coca cola flavour ready to harvest within a day would ever be possible. but something along the lines of harvest in two weeks cherry flavour 3ft tall may be possible. Who would be interested?

any ideas.

it kind of reminds me of the round up seeds, from that company. they call them terminator, because the pollute the natural fields and the seeds that have been able to grow for a thousand years are no longer able to do so due to the terminator seeds.

hey dull,
its not like mj is wrong everywhere, its when corporations change the good things, they could make it not viable, they could change it to where their male pollen changes somthing in the all natural mj. corporations are dirty, and its a really dirty business.

i have heard the company who have produced sweet tooth and strawberry bloom aree looking to start mapping the genetic code for marijuana.

Genetic engineering has all kinds of ethical and ecological problems, but these mostly relate to the new genetics escaping into the wild. For indoor, isolated growing, it seems safe enough.

Now get a genome sequence mapper, a PHD in genetics, and a couple mil extra in venture capital and it's game on! We'll have a plant that produces 2 lbs in 12 weeks and is only 2.5ft tall and 38% THC in no time. Dreaming is fun

Brock fucking Sampson ftw btw

Yea it is fine in a lab or in a controlled environment but when those genetics get released into natural ecosystems it could be impossible to get rid of them.

When we breed using standard techniques we can manipulate the genetics in such as way that nature can reverse what we have done, not to mention we are working with a pool of natural genetics in the first place. But when we straight up splice genes from other species into Cannabis genes nature cannot reverse it and it is totally unnatural gene mixture.

That seems unwise to say the least.

forget GM cannabis. If you want to get mad stoned as if you were smoking GM cannabis then just get synthetic cannabinoids..... JWH-018 and JWH-025. often for sale as bonzai plant food.

G.M. weed bring it on yes please bigger buds, better yeilds, shorter flowering times, tastier weed.
Set thc, cbd, cbn levels for certain medicinal uses or just recreational us.

BUT yes the corporations will be rubing there greasy little trotters together at the prospect of
those gentics and your hard earned cash.
Are we really the sort of people who want to jog down to argos\tesco\wall-mart for our sacred herb
or rather grow our own with our choice of genetics and the tlc they need and deserve

im saying GM weed would have its benifits and i would like to see them.

anyone with me:wall:

Heck yea I am all for some GM herb. lets try not to take it way to far. Also be a good idea to make it indoor ONLY.

ok i have collected the dna samples and they are currently in storage. i am in the process of purchasing a gene sequencer and i will then isolate the gene for thc production

You speak of genetic modification as if it is some sort of disease that once altered, spreads throughout the rest of the population, infecting the genome with a "modification..."

Well you couldn't be more wrong... Were not throwing down soybeans by the thousand acre and cross-pollinating whether we like it or not (Monsanto reference). Almost all strains are kept genetically intact in seed, and can be grown out in a controlled environment at any time to produce more in whatever manner one pleases.

Genetically altering marijuana is a likely future. It might even be a good idea if the right people do it :)
