Genetics, hybrids, seeds

A friend had Afghan Kush and Maui Wowie, the afghan turned up make and made seeds.

The plants I have are from that mistake. So they are indica and sativa crosses.

If I screwed up (I don't think I did) and got seeds, would they be viable? I looked up this mix, (Af-Goo) and it said "available as clone only" in some seed catalog.

Anyone want to offer a quick layman's-terms explanation of breeding, crosses, hybrids?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

breeding = male and female
Crosses = when an hybrid strain is back crossed to the parent
Hybrid = an Sativa x Indica strain

I like the seeds from these type of mishaps. If you spend the time to grow a bunch out then you will certainly find some special ladies. Good Luck Dude.

It will be a cross of the two but won't be the same as clone-only Afgoo

Reason is, the parents have all sorts of variable traits to pass on - there's no way your seeds will have the exact same genes as the cut.

The seeds you get from the cross will themselves display all sorts of different phenotypes

Thank you. I am hoping I don't get seeds. I still have dozens from the same batch from which my plants grew.

I have sampled immature buds, and it's a good high. :-)

And will only get much better after they ripen...plus you will get a much larger harvest by doing so.

I know. Up here in NW Wyoming, I'm just watching for frost now. They're not done yet... I have taken a few flowers from lower branches, but the "colas" are getting longer and fatter. They need to hurry up!⏳

Yikes! keep an eye on the weather, light frosts are ok as long as day temps get above 50...hold out as long as you can, but a early harvest is better than none.
