Germinating a seed from a hermie???

So I'm getting ready to grind some medicine and I notice there's a seed in the Wise Cookies I purchased. So I said, wtf. I dropped it in a glass of tap water, 72hrs later (musta been a hard, old seed), the seed cracked and I saw the tap root pop out maybe 3 mm. I soaked sum Cana coco in ph 5.8 water. Buried the seed root down about a knuckle deep. Put it in a dome, temp 78F, humidity 90% in a dark place. 48 hrs later, it broke thru the coco. Now I keeping 2 42W daytime cfls on them about 1.5inches away.

Question, since I found this one seed in the medicine I bought from a dispensary, u think the cultivator had a male or a plant turned hermie?

What kind of genetics would this seed have?

Also, it seems the shell casing is stuck to one of the cotyledons... Anyone know if thts gonna harm the plant?

If you want to minimize the chance of it herming, minimize heat and light stress on the plant, and maintain good temps and humidity.

Like innerg said, give it a great life and she will treat you right.

I ran a bag seed from dispensary bud last year. It was AMAZING. So great in fact that I pollinated it with a nice male that was in my neighborhood... The original plant never showed any hermi traits and so far her offspring hasn't either.

I'd say just do your best to give her the perfect environment and pay attention to her in case she does throw some pollen.

That seed is most likely a female....sometimes plants can produce seeds with no males present.... If that's the case then it's 100% female genetics which means a feminized seed

If you find a lot of seeds, don't plant them. If an oz has one or two, they are probably fine. Best plant I ever grew was from bag seed. Good luck!

You can pull the casing off if you want, it won't hurt the plant

Thanks bro. Yea, she's looking really healthy. Kinda slow growing... I'll take sum pics and post in next few days.

I have her under 24 hr (1-2) 42w daytime cfl bulbs. Under a scope I can see more clearly the new growth coming out. Looks healthy, nice n green.

Just been feeding with ph 5.8 water and every other feeding, few drops of Superthrive, <5ml each Canna Coco A&b in a gallon jug. I drain to waste. Plant is in a 1 gallon smart pot rt now. 3/4 gallon usually gives it a 20-30% runoff.

So far, she seems to love the schedule. I'll adjust as needed.

Here's couple pics. Sorry Bros, total ghetto grow. I wasn't planning on cultivating, I don't even have a grow tent but it all started when tht seed cracked... Haha. Now imma try to put sum tits on that girl (hopefully she a girl!)

1 to 2 lights will be plenty for when their small but when they get big I would recommend (4) 23 watt /100 watt equivalent CFL daylight bulbs on top of the plant and 2 bulbs on each side of the plant....For 1 plant You will need (5) "Y" socket splitters and (3) cords with light sockets....I found all my light sockets by driving around on trash day and getting old lamps that people were throwing out, I just took off all the hardware till nothing but the cord was left and that's what I use.....Your plants will need nutrients when they get around 3 weeks old or it could develop deficiencies which can kill your plant....Pick what brand you want but make sure it's cannabis friendly, I would recommend Fox Farm "Grow Big" for vegetative stage and Fox Farm "Tiger Bloom" for flowering....All this shouldn't cost more than $50 bucks....If you do this you will get a healthy plant that produces 1.5 - 2 ounces of good weed

Looks good, make sure not to overdo the nutes. You're better using them too weak than too strong, especially when the plant is so small and fragile

Thanks innerG, do u grow in coco? Can't believe it, found another single seed but not sure from which strain I got. Put it in cup of water like the first one. But this time, within an hr, it sank to bottom. So I decided to try germinating directly in coco/Perlite.

The seed didn't crack, just sank. Didn't want to oversoak it, so took it out, ph my tap water to 5.8. Only added Cana Rhizotoinc 1ml/gal, checked ph again after adding Rhizo, pounr water into coco perlite mix in starter cup, let it drain to waste, let it soak in water catcher few minutes, empty. I made sure coco had rt amount of moisture. Knuckle deep, dropped the seed, fine layer of coco on top.

Now, should it be in the dark or under lights? I keep hearing different things.

Nope I do soil.

I typically grow from clones cause It's so much easier and you know you'll get a good pheno, but when I've grown from seeds I preferred the wet paper towel in a ziploc bag method. Then I transplanted the sprouts into soil cups.

There are many good ways to do it. Life finds a way.

I know a grower that keeps one plant from each grow set aside that he stresses out with light changes, and other manipulation to produce a few seeds from a female plant. I have grown a few, he has grown many no problems with hermies or males that I can recall.

So, hi everyone! Here's an update of that runt seed I found in the weed I got from a dispensary.

I'm still unsure of sex. Guess I'll have to wait till I flower it. I topped her at the third node after I let her grow 6 nodes high. I'm trying to mainline her using Nugbuckets method. She's at her 2nd top. So I have two new mains on each side. Once each main grows another 2-3 nodes,, I'll top each main for 4 main colas on each side.

Heres some pics, hope she ends of a female!
