Germinating in a glass of water

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with germin in a glass of water. and does it help the prosess

It works. Though the only real "help" it offers is to eliminate the need to rewet your paper towels. I'd do it in a coffee mug or another opaque vessel though.

I soak the seeds for about 12hr in water. then plant in soil. I think it helps speed up the germ. when you put in soil the soil should be moist not wet and plant just under the soil.

when I used the paper towel I never once had to re-wet the towel.

Depends on the humidity level in the area you're storring the seeds.

I follow Stumps method as well. 12-18 in warm water.

I'm germinating in water right now. I don't bother transferring them to paper towels - I just leave them in the water and put the cup on top of a warm appliance or piece of electrical equipment to keep things warm. Seems to work well for me.
