germinating/planting seeds

on many other websites, they tell you to put the seeds with the pointy end up
on others they say plant pointy end facing downwards
:cuss:

im just asking which is the correct way
:bigjoint:

basically the shoot that protrudes is going to be the root but the natural order is for it to come out the soil and go back in before the other end comes out and casts the remaining seed away with its leaves.
use the paper towel method;

1) take a few paper towels and put them on plate. soak with distilled water. put seeds on, then put a couple more towels over and wet if necsesary. ( there shouldnt be a puddle of water, just soak the towels!). next cover the plate and put it in a warm dark place for 24 hours.

2) check the seeds at 24 hours. remove any that have sprouted and plant them shoot up. redamp the paper if needed and check remaining seeds every 8 hours or so.

thanks man
and when i do this and plant
i dont have any big time lamps
i only have a regular desk lamp 120 volts 65 watts
its in an enclosed area i turned it on over a pot
and the soil gets nice and hot and so does the whole are
would they still grow with an attempt using this lamp?

no, a regular incandescant bulb does not produce any of the spectrum needed for growth. you need to at least use CFL lights, google it!!! educate yourself! flourescent lights arent uncommon! but if you really want to grow you should invest like 80$ for a hps from a reputable net company. i use a 250w hps on 4/6 plants n they shoot up.
check my grow.

oh, by the way dude. soil getting hot is NOT cool. take some time out. read some grow guides, educate yourself. you need it!

peace

you should consider a setup...like littlewhitewhore (hahahha) said... educate yourself, theres many things to look into on here... but for now... go get a Y adapter.. its a Y shaped socket that holds to bulbs that you can screw into another socket... get 2 cfl's, make sure they say 26w or more... also make sure one is 2700K Soft White and the other one is 6500K Daylight...that should hold you while you figure out what you want to do
