Wondering what the longest amount of time I should leave my seed in a cup if water before I throw it out? One has soaked for a week but still hasn't popped. What's the longest it could take? Thank you

Dude - seeds can't swim. Been growing since 1964 and trust me on this - put the seed directly into peat plugs or Root Shooters or Root Riot cubes. Into a heated seedling tray & dome. No paper towel trips, no swimming parties, no corpse powder or gris gris balls needed.

soaking seeds for over 24hr isnt good

the longest i have seen a seed take to sprout is 9+ months, I through seeds that don't sprout in the garden and sometimes in spring I find seedlings.

You are only supposed to soak the seed until it sinks. No longer than 12-24hrs. When the seed opens, the root needs oxygen, it can be smothered to death by too much water.

Try rinsing the seed with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (same kind you clean cuts with) I have had amazing results with stubborn seeds that didnt want to pop after 3-4 days.. They usually go within 24hrs of rinsing. I now pre rinse all my seeds with HP before I papertowl them and I see almost 100% germ rate. Now there are occasions when A seed just wont pop but its rare unless theyre years old or immature. Google it. It works! :bigjoint:
