Germinating vs. Dropping Seed In Soil

I soak mine in water for 24 hours and plant them. Always pop in 1-3 days.

I put some soil into a small coco coir cup, dampen the soil, then make a small hole with an eraser and drop the seed into that. lay a thin layer of soil over that, then keep it moist but not oversaturated. So far I've had perfect germination success with that method, although I also admit I am not very experienced so it may have been luck.
