HI ive been germinating 3 seeds for about 3 days now and they all have a small tail sticking out of the shell. I am going to move them into my peat pellets that i have in a little greenhouse. I have 2 questions.
1. When i plant the seeds does the tail face down or up?
2.Once the plants are in the soil should i put them under a light or just keep them in the dark untill they sprout out of the soil? If i need light should it be direct light and for how many hours a day?

here's what i do. i put the seeds in a cup of water for at least 24 hr then plant the seed and try to keep the soil damp until you see the sprouts.(about 2-4 days)

1.) Tail up if possible. Either way make sure the cover soil is not packed.
2.) Keep it in the light. It helps germination. Most plants will pop in the morning to take advantage of a full sun cycle.

Good Luck.

personally i leave mine in the little jiffy box green house on top of my cable box(for warmth). there's no light there at all . i don't take them off till i see a stem and two leaves. other people put them in their grow rooms as soon as they sow them. i guess they think the light heats the soil surface providing warmth for the seed to germinate. and also getting light as soon as it pops.

my opinion is that niether way is wrong. the plant will not die if doesn't get light immediately. i 've tried both techniques and found the seed comes out of the soil faster on the cable box. just remember don't sow the seed to deep. just barely cover it with soil. use a spray bottle to moisten the soil afterwards .. good luck:peace:

If your seeds have already sprouted....you need to put them in light. If they have a tail coming out they are going to break the surface in 2 days or less. There is absolutely no need to keep them in the dark.
