I'm absolutely astonished by my germination rates lately. Due to space im mainly an Auto grower. I recently ordered 8 seeds from Seedsman with horrid success to get any of my seeds to pop, minus one. My process for all of them was the same process. Soaked the seeds for 16-24hrs in tap water and put onto paper towels between 2 plates on a heating mat till taps show. As said before, 1 out of 8 of my seeds were good to plant, all others either didnt pop after 2 and a half weeks, or died and rotted. Any ideas? Is it the breeder? Am I doing something wrong? Please help..

Could be bad seeds. If they look healthy and mature they should pop. Forget soaking and paper towels. These are not good germ methods. They work but often damage the tap root and give a slow start. Huge mistake with autos, especially. I realize that you didn't get that far, but there are better ways. Look up scarification. Get some scarring going and then plant them right in the dirt or starter. Saturate the soil once, completely and cover with plastic wrap and wait. Open plastic every couple of days to avoid mold. Only need to do it for 15 mins or so. Should come up in 3 to 5 days. Im still at 100% germ rate over almost 20 years. 1000+ seeds and every one has popped doing it just like this.

It sounds like you are trying to make sure you have problems. Plant them directly in the medium you are going to grow in and in the container they’ll grow in.

Heat mat? How hot is it getting? I’ve fried seeds this way, in turn won’t ever get me a root. They need to be warmer than room temp but not that much warmer (depending on your room temp obviously) I use the top of my Xbox one, when soaking and after they go in the towel. I can usually have em ready within 24-36 hours to go in soil
You won't want to use a heat mat unless you are damned sure of the temperature. Don't use straight tap water. Treat the water according to your local conditions (chlorine or chloramine) and check your ph. Then in a cup of treated water put one tsp of hydrogen peroxide. Use that. If you think it is too cold take the plates with the seeds inside and put them in the sun covered of course.

It drives me crazy reading post after post of people with germination issues. Put the seeds in some damn soil, water them in, wait to sprout. No heat mat, paper towel, plastic baggy, plates, dome, etc... I've been doing it that way for years with damn near 100% success. I treat cannabis seeds just like I do any other seeds like vegetables and flowers. There is nothing special about germinating cannabis seeds. Failure comes from doing too much. Hell, they'll come up on their own outside in the ground.
All of these went straight into soil. No soaking, paper towels, plates, cupboards, domes, snake oil, electroshock, etc...
These came up outside on their own in April when the temps were down into the upper thirties and low forties at night. Proof that you don't need a damn heat mat.

Further the seeds do not need to be germinated at “warmer than room temperature”. I am in Interior Alaska and germinated everything I have growing outside directly in soil. A couple of times the temperatures dropped to 38 but not for that many hours. Instead nighttime temperatures were about 45-48. Cannabis germinates regularly in mountainous terrain with zero assistance from man.It drives me crazy reading post after post of people with germination issues.
