Germination Idea - Would this be faster?

Ok so I soaked my seed in water for 24hrs and I planted her in a nice plastic cup. Shes in the grow room now and Im thinking of this ides but not sure. Here's my question: Would placing a clear cup over the top of the cup I planted my seed in help the germination of my seedling?

Some people put plastic wrap over their cups to create a more humid environment. They claim it works. I've never done it. The plastic cup idea is kind of silly because you don't want a top heavy item that could cause your cup to fall over. In any case if you wanted to try your idea out I'd just use the plastic wrap. It will do what you want to do with a plastic cup and it just seems like a more intelligent approach at doing.

Plastic wraps a good one. But it could possibly not give your plant enough oxygen though?

I'd just poke a hole or two with a tooth pick or better yet a fine needle.

lol the point in this would be to create a more humid atmosphere holes equal ventilation lol what i do sometimes is i use a large water bottle or like a milk jug cut it in half and put it over it it works great but you should start taking it off after a couple days to see how it does with out it

My seedlings are always happier with a dome, that goes for my many vegetable seedlings also, a clear cup, ziplock back, seedlings love humidity.

I was merely making a suggestion (since he had oxygen concerns). Yeah I agree it would be more humid without the holes in the wrapping. However a few small tiny holes won't change the cups RH too much. I bet it still would maintain a RH of 80-90% Better yet if he really wanted to he could mask the holes with surgical tape and that would allow a nice amount of Free air exchange and gas exchange to go on and the tape would also would keep his RH at near 100%...however high 80-90% RH is perfectly acceptable for sprout growth. In any case he's growing in soil so I wouldn't want my RH too close to a 100 strange fungi and bacteria could grow especially with stale air. Hell mushroom growers have huge holes in their monotubs and stuff simple pillow stuffing loosely in the holes and they maintain a RH of 90-100%. Just because you have some holes in a item doesn't mean you will negatively impact the RH. Also having proper ventilation isn't such a bad thing you drastically lower your risk for contending pest/fungi if you have some fresh air going.

I have tried both with and without with cup with plastic bag with ziplock with plastic wrap and they all work better than without
another plus to set up i use is heating pad of course we are talking about a weed almost anything will work but we are talking about numbers here like percent of success and cost of beans ive been growing since January this year and think im hooked on growing not hooked on product.

yea i put the plastic wrap over it earlier today and it already looks humid in the cup.

hasnt popped out the soil yet though.

germinate them in a paper towel, when they crack open, place them into some peat pellets, and after they sprout move them to a bigger container, and start doing what you do.

whare can i get the peat pellets?

i have this really good moss like soil now may dad used to grow with, I think it has some nutes in it for good seedling growth also.. He knows more than me so the soil should be legit.

home depot, lowes, walmart, ace they usually come with a tray and humidity dome for like 5 bucks

Well just like to add that if your looking to give your seeds that little bit of a head start germinating..., yes, soak them prior to planting , but also do like they do in the seed industry with hard coated seeds like alfala or clover and scarify them first. Very simply put run them lightly across an emery board or emery cloth, stressing lightly, to scratch the seed coat thereby promoting imbibition.
