Hey ya'll

I Recently ordered seeds thro the UK and have started germinating them.

Problem is its been a week and nothing has sprouted yet. I heard that it can take up to two weeks to germinate. Is that true? Should i be worried?

thanks

does this germination station heat the root zone also? if not, i would get some warmth underneath it. i germinate in jiffy trays and put a heating pad in a towel underneath it

ya basically the station is just a heating pad with a tray built onto it, so should i be worried that nothing has sprouted yet after a week

i wouldnt worry too much, some of mine took over a week, but the majority were within 36 hrs. i gave up on a few, took them out of the jiffy pellets and tossed into a pot of dirt "just in case", one of them sprouted about a week later. so dont give up yet, esp if you bought the seeds. what strain might i ask?

i have only 4 seeds going
white widow
white widow max
big bud
sweet bud

we have already sprouted the schwag seeds, they only took 3 days

our theory is that becuase they are from the seedbank, the probably cooled them down in storage and thats why its taking so long

we hope

Hey ProductivePotHead,

I'm growin some Nirvana Northern Lights and Sensi Skunk at the moment. Luckily a shop in London called Shiva (Seeds : Shiva Head Shop) sells them so you just walk in with cash, and walk out with your seeds.

Sunday - Got 10 Nirvana Northern Lights seeds.
Monday - Put them all in a wet paper towel (using Asda Eden Falls Still Mineral Water) in warm room (where the hot water boiler is).
Thursday - 8 seeds sprouted 5mm roots so I planted them.
Friday (today) - 1 more seed sprouted 5mm roots so I planted it.
Saturday (tomorrow) - Will plant the 10th seed - sprouted root is only 2mm long today.

I paid approx £17 for the Nirvana Northern Lights. The seedlings are only a day or two old but they're all looking strong. I recommend Nirvana.

My Sensi Skunk seeds were a bit more trouble - but it was my fault. I messed up the germination process. Instead of using a wet paper towel, I just threw the 16 seeds into a cup of tap water and put them in the warm room. I would NOT advise this method to anyone because it drowns the seeds. Some die. Some have their roots destroyed. Using this method, only 1 out of 16 seeds made it to strong seedling stage. (I just hope it's a female)

I've got a question about your germination station - what's in the tray? Soil? Water?

Ok so a friend of mine from Canada is thinkin of doing some farming and asked how to start planting the seeds. Here's a few tips:

Basically, in order to germinate the seeds, stick them in a damp paper towel. And stick the paper towel in an air tight plastic bag or cling film. Put them in a warm room for a few days. Check them once a day to make sure the paper towel is still damp and warm. After a few days they will sprout roots. Plant them delicately in soil when the roots are 5mm long. Never touch the roots because they are very sensitive to bacteria from your hands. When planting them in soil just stick them about 5mm below the soil surface with the root pointing downwards.

Water them once a day or so - not too much.

Ok so once the seedlings are a few days old they will have their first set of leaves. The seedling will be 2 or 3 inches tall and will now require some serious lighting. See my other posts for info on that. ;-)
