Germination Problems

Amazing :-D.... I Light up some indoor and check for a reply on my post and wam bam :leaf::leaf::leaf: , I see some positivity and love from the community......

Thanks for the warm welcome Mellow j :-D, I hope all is having as good a day as I am ....:joint:(:.

Hey All,

Mellow j to answer your questions:

First off, what strain is your auto? What strain is your feminized?
Diesel Ryder is the strain of the autoflower seed and Northern Lights is the strain of the feminized seed.
Did you do anything to start the germination process before you planted?
In all honesty, I was really excited at the time and popped it right into the soil smack bang in the center 28mm (1.1") deep. So to answer your process no I havn't done anything.
Do you know how hot the soil your friend gave you is? Like amendments, ph, ppm?
Lol if only I knew then what I knew now:wall: (: when he told me it was good soil, imported from Germany....I was like duuuuuuuuuude, I'm sold ;) ("Remember, he had the dankest shit on the block").....and everyone knows good soil aids production healthy plant growth ("all round"). so i was basically more interested in lighting, ventilation etc. So nope i didn't even think to ask any questions were as the amendments, ph, ppm is concerned. But not to worry Iv just asked him and now await his response, will let you know as soon as I know ("Yes im a dumb ass for not finding out the finer credentials where the soil is concerned lol like a kid in a candy store :-D").

What would you personally recommend as your "to go mix"?
What size container did you plant in?
About 14cm (5.5") +-?

As far as what to do next, half of my pinky is about 1.5 inches. That too deep. A half inch is good, give or take.
I was told to go half a pinky in but i went a little less ("give or take 28mm equivalent to 1 inch").

I would wait for one of the more seasoned guys to answer that. If it were me, I'd take a pair of sterilized tweezers, or something sterilized, and very, very, very gently investigate ehats going on, and to see if your seed has split. You may have planted it too deep. A seed only has so much stored energy. 7 days is a little long Imo.
You are a genius :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:, this will allow me to see what's going on ill try that now. Tell me if I don't have alcohol then will salt in boiling water be ok?

@Gratefulgrowin93, thanks for the reply will keep this in mind in my next experiment as I scored 2 nice test seeds ("Cross fingers they girls :D") from a friend today ("Good indoor strains, OG kush and strawberry diesel"), they small though and light brown with a small hint of green, do you think these seeds have a chance of growth? Also is there a method to, let say "Muture a seed". I know that isn't the correct term and is probably isnt a term at all but what if there was a way lol.

My set up is small, as just growing for myself ("to stop me from buying weed"), in a nutshell....i had a really bad experience and thought that the bag could have be mixed with drugs("not the initial high more the after effects"). So my light setup is simple, I think I've nailed the theory of lighting. Please correct me if im wrong:

A light producing more of a blue spectrum is good for "vegetative stages" these lights usually rate 4000K to 4600K("rough figures but if you read those numbers on the kelvin scale you'll know what I mean"), where as a light producing more of a red spectrum would be good for "flowering stages" these lights usually rate 3000K to 2500K("Again, rough figures but if you read those numbers on the kelvin scale you'll know what I mean").

That said, I looked at a few options:

Vegetative stages

MH vs CLF vs LED

MH is good, used in the correct manner while growing you will see amazing results("This coming from scouring the internet looking at different lights that produce a specific spectrum of light").

CLF these are your energy budget set up but don't get me wrong people have produced mad amounts of bud if set up correctly ("Im talking small size grow space max plants 3, just my opinion you might have a different one...id love to hear it ;)").

LED wins this one with an overall well balance to your energy consumption as well the type of light being produced, http://www.diamondseriesleds.com/". In theory this would make sense, they just FUCK expensive....I mean come on gimmie a break, although i did stumbled across the Hydroponic LED Grow Light "Sensemilla" - 240 Watt, 80 LEDs, 2x UV LEDS - ELMN-LT148 and LED and Grow Light "Flower Power" - x72 LEDs, 216 Watt, Low Power Consumption - ELZW-LT149 these ones seem reasonably priced.

Flowering stages

HPS vs CLF vs LED
Winner hands down HPS, need I say more....I've seen and I've read so that basically sums up my practical and theory conclusion. You might feel otherwise but that's just my opinion bongsmilie

Keep in mind all these lights used in the correct manner will give you results no doubt it all depends on what your mission requirements are ie budget, location, space, amount of trees("don't be greedy it's not meant to be abused, if you abuse Marry she will kick your ass... bongsmilie "), etc.

my light set up will go as follows

1 big 85watt daylight CLF's
4 small 20watt daylight CLF's

4 warm white 23watt CLF's("Im going to get another 2 soon").

This is just a test run on a really good seed that could potentially go wrong due to me rushing into things, so if your a noob like me, dont take my advice from experience and go do the correct research before attempting a grow, also id suggest getting a few practise seeds just for germination processes so you can learn and understand how it should be done as this is a very important part of the plants life, its like you aiding in putting the small seed in a certain medium and then a birth like event happens and the plant pops out, so you like the doctor in a weird way :D.

I need to work on my light setup for flowering ie, get lights that produce more of a red spectrum light.

I bought a heating mat today as well as a hygrometer, it's currently on 25 deg and at 54% humidity this is with the light on as well.

My set up is one plant i don't intend growing more than that. So if you have a good view on growing in general some tips will be most helpful.

Thanks in advanced
Bong up to you bongsmilie

Peace and much love to all.

Cannabis growers are the only ones that do all this crazy shit to grow a seed. Its a seed. Seeds are designed to grow. Just poke a hole about half inch deep throw seed in, cover, and lightly tap. That's it. That's all you got to do.

I grow a vegetable garden and I start all my flowers from seed. I plant. Thousands of seeds a year. Guess what, they all come up except the occasional dud.

When a seed sprouts a tap root that root develops very fine hairs. When you use all these extra steps you damage those fine hairs. The less you do the better.

And if you want to be technical plant your seed point up or if you germ it, tap root up. Here's why. The tap root makes a u turn then grows down. That way it can pull the shell off as it sprouts.download.jpgdownload (1).jpg

I've used cfl on small closer setups I had before

make sure the CFL is close enough they don't give off much heat so getting them close is key

as far as germing I never use paper towels anymore because I've lost some good seed that way when the paper towel dried too much keep a close eye to make sure the seeds stay moist

thays why I like the pre soak and planting method its done me justice with all the expensive seeds I've picked up on the last year or so

peace and happy growing !! :)

Nice strains. I've got a Northern lights baby right now. Robust little fucker.. Just keep doing your home work, and ask questions. You'll get it. Yes pre planted germination does open opportunities to damage your tender seedlings with clumbsy hands, or just handling them at all. I use the paper towel method, but I stay on top of it. A quick soak in a cup of water, good water, till the seed sinks, meaning water has penetrated the shell, and triggered hormones, take it out as soon as it sinks and plant it. Theres a scuffing technique to help penetration on older hard shell seeds. Just trying to share with you what ive read and done. Like I said, I use the paper towel method. I prefer it. I just used it on these two. It works for me.
Good luck with your new found knowledge. Listen to these guys. You may not get a definitive answer, but if you can navigate through, and find the best advice you will do well. Ultimately, all we can do is share. In the end, it's yourself doing trial and error. Experiment. It took me a few tries. A good starter soil is Fox Farms Light Warrior. Although lately their quality has been shifty.

Happy growing.
Peace, love, and Pot

Thanks for all the advice, and yeah I'm one of them people that intend to use what I've learned in my own combination and come up with cool tips and tricks myself but all of these methods i think i should attempt on test seeds as a start just to get a solid foundation built practically from the implemented theory, because in the end it all boils down to what works best for you under your specific environment chosen("Always keep an open mind").

bongsmilie for all, with smiles and love,

You've got a good head on your shoulders. Thats exactly how you have to do it. It's a learning process like any other. Get your methods down on bag seed, then spend your hard earned money on genetics.
Glad I could help. Keep me updated. Peace Love Pot

Hi Everyone

So its been like 10 or 11 days now and I still see nothing  . So i decided to dig her up, and what I saw was a white root and it seemed quite deep ("my bad"), and the root was curled up in like a "C" shape. Im sorry guys I never took any photos, I tried to lift her but it seemed a bit tough so I just replanted her closer to the top and covered with soil lightly.

I love to hear what you awesome people have to say :bigjoint:.

PS. Should take it away from the light now? like turn off the light and just wait? Or is she a goner ("MEDIC:o").

Thanks a stack...

after planting if I poke around and see a taproot I make sure I cover it and the soil is moist not dry or wet

and I have them under a t5 untill I see sprouts and blade leaves start appearing then by the third node or fourth I can move under a bigger light transplant top start tieing down etc

so up to you but I put un sprouted cups of soil under the light 18/6 so the plant starts its life in the light cycle it is going to be in ✌

Lol if i see a sprout then my girl will see the night first and then the day lol.....I hope she sprouts :D. So happy my root was not green.

I think what you did should be fine. If you had a tap root(a radical) what you did should pop a seedling, provided everything that you touched it with were sterile, and you were real gentle. I think your fine. See, I told you too investigate! :-) you can put
Light on it.

And.....did your girls survive homie? So do you rate theres a chance she("my one") might live?

bongsmilie....

Ru
yeah I thought I accidentally killed a few before and they pulled through got a little over half females from those I had 10 6 were fems:) and multiple keepers were showing out of those

Hey mellow j
Shot for the reply, heres a bongsmilie for you ;). Yeah I made sure that all utensils where sterilised. Took the light out lol but its cool my humidity is up on 64% and im using a green house method ("My babies in ICU "). Its all a waiting game now ill check every few hours on her. Ill use this time to construct a mad ass light holder so that if she pops she'll get as much light as she needs.....if not Im going to stop growing for now and hit the drawing board lol if all fails "RTFM" :-D.

Ill just stock up with good seeds and then ill go it right.

ICU? :-) :-) kmsl! I like that.
She'll come through.. If not, it's part of the learningeexperience. I don't even wanna tell you how many seeds I murdered when I started. Lol. Its all good. Peace
