Germination- Think Different

Any one out there having any issues with germination on there think dfferent seeds? I am having the worst time ever, like 30-40% rate. Paper towel shit dont work seends dont sprout, or they do sprout and they die in the first few days. i think i have roughly 4-5 7 packs and 14 that are good. wtf. Attitude has helped me with this isue, but i am done with the different for know, plant is a Hugh produce too. tHIS REALLY SUCKS. aNY INPUT?

have you tried putting the seeds into a shot glass for 24 hours with warm water then doing the paper towel method? I have had 95% germination rate with this. Also it could just take your seeds a long time to germinate. Don't give up on them give them up to 2 weeks to germinate.

Have you tried putting them directly in your grow medium to let them germinate that way? I have had almost 100% success from this; just think, no chance of damaging your delicate root hairs when transplanting them.. In about three days you have a sprout

I had the same issue with a batch of Roadrunner 2's from dinafem. For me it seemed to be a temp issue. Right as I was germinating winter hit and the plants seemed to struggle greatly with the 3 am cold snaps.

I finally had to let my temps go up to 86 at night while germinating so they didn't drop under 70 during a snap. They just seemed to be really fragile. Havn't grown think different yet, but it seems we had a nearly identical situation. I soak for 12-24 hours in a shot glass then switch to paper towel method on a heat mat. Very meticulous and irritating, but eventually I managed to get 5 of the 10 to sprout and finish out. First time having any issue germinating.

My other seeds didn't have the issue. NL blue and La Diva from delicious seeds and Blue Mystic from Royal Queen all germinated and are growing wonderfully with no issue.

Plant them in the growth medium wait a week for them to start growing. Don't put too much extra stuff in the soil so you don't "burn" the roots. The plant will do fine on its cotyledons for a few days until it gets true leaves. Don't let it dry out but also don't make it muddy.

Problems can arise when a newbie plants direct to the meduim like various fungal infection, better to soak 24 hours before hand with a teaspoon of household bleach, this to kill the spores and bugs, then to damp kitchen towles then to a 4 inch pot or puck! but do keep it warm 75f/25c

Some seeds need extra help breaking their barrier. I've had seed sit in water 48hrs and then In paper towel for a few days and get nothing. Then I grab them with tweezers along the shell line and apply slight pressure until you hear it crack. Then back into the paper towel for a day to find a nice tap root finally developing. After that. If your seeds are dying I the paper towel, shriveled or turning brown, you have serious water or temp problems.

Nooooooooooooooo !

It won't work that way, we gotta make it harder than that cause seeds wont just grow in soil. We gotta dick and fuck with them every step of the way, and you can't keep your eye on them underground to make sure everything is going OK. And what if the root can't figure out the direction to the bottom of the cup so we have to sprout them and make sure that is done right. Noooooooooooooo !

I'm just curious... have you germ`d any other seeds? If so... What is your success rate? I think most people over think the process of germination... remember the KISS method!!

I don't know why people over complicate the ever loving hell out of this. Oh, and the bleach reference is a new one to me. I would never put a bean in bleach............or a shot glass........or a paper towel. Stick it in the dirt or in a piece of PH'd rock wool and be done with it already.

Every vegetable under the sun, flowers on a greenhouse scale, and acres of corn, soybeans, milo. So millions. Certified seed of ANY type will come with a CERTIFIED tag listing germ rate, weed seed %, and inert matter. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything less than 95% viable except grass seed sometimes. Most are certified at 97% or higher. I've germ tested 2 year old corn and soybeans before planting and still got 97% germ. This testing is done on germ mats, similar to the paper towel deal. But the seed is never meant to be planted, it's just germed to see what the viability is before planting so you know how to adjust the seeders to get the correct number of plants/acre.

I never bother with all "special methods" like towels etc. No plant likes to have its roots handled, or being transplanted in newborn baby stage period.

All this nonsense was developed by idiots with brown thumbs who can't even grow common weeds like cannabis in delusion that some "magical" unorthodox method will cover up their lack of basing growing skills and understanding living plant culture.

Try putting one in a damp paper towel...not dripping wet. Then fold it up nicely and put it in a zip lock baggie. This is the most important part, blow your baggie up like a balloon and seal it. Then you place it on top of your hot water heater, packet side down absorbing heat. I had a lot of trouble until I started germing this way............... Lots of air in bag and around 2 or 3 drops of filtered water per seed.

Did you end up getting a few more to pop?
i usually germ at least 80 percent of mine when popping about 10, usuallu just get tap water let it sit at room temp and then get a Tupperware container and paper towels, put it under my bed for 2-3 days boom

I have a 100% germ rate on all 17 autos that I've grown, 7 of them were Think Different from Dutch Passion and I used the paper tissue method for about 3-5 day's

Paper towel method works for me, I germinated 5 seeds in total over the past months all success. Just make sure the paper towel has plenty of moisture.

Here my method....

1 Paper towel, mine are dark red towels more dark the better. Fold the towel in half then half again put your seed in the first fold give a little extra spay with water when it hits the towel. Fold the towel back up CAREFULLY so not light can leak into the towel.

Then place the paper towel with the seed in it, carefully into a sandwich or freezer bag. This will help lock in moisture.

Then sit the bag with the paper towel and seed in it on top of your internet router. The nice warm heat from the router is great for my seeds every time.

2 days later, sorted.

I grew the Think Different seeds my last batch, I did not have a problem with them germinating, I put them about 1/2" in the soil and give a little water. I had a really shitty yield off of them. They did not take to the soil like the other ones I had in the room. I did the same things to the other ones that I did to the TD but they did not have a good root system and just did not seem to take off like the other autos in the room.
