Germination

I've got a fresh pack of Bruce banner autos in today via crop king seeds. I follow their germination instructions per their process.

I do wonder if my seeds in the glass of water happen to sink or crack prior to the 14-18hr time frame, can I go ahead and move to paper towel for germination or should seeds remain in glass of water at least 12-14hrs regardless?

My method and belief is germ in water then place carefully in soil. Paper towel induces micro root damage removing from paper towel for me.

Best wishes.

I just attempted to germ 6 White Widow fems in paper towel method only, which is what I have always done with a good success rate. This time I'm pretty sure I just fucked up $60 worth of seeds.. Probably going to go with user above me's method next time.

You could move to paper towel from the beginning. I find the glass of water to be an extra unneeded step

have never had an issue with paper towel from the start, damp and squeeze out water, put in seeds, put in bag and seal, place in dark, in 2-3 days they are ready for the dirt

I see people saying both glass to dirt , towel to dirt seems to be a personal preference. It is good to state that tap water should not be used in germing

What makes you say tap water should be avoided in a paper towel method? I use it every time and never have issues. Of course if your tap comes out very acidic or very alkaline it could cause issues when growing the plant, by why would it do anything when it’s just to wet the solid shell and initiate the seed to wake up from slumber? After that they go right into a living medium, hopefully.

Reason I say it is that anyone new to growing probably wont measure ph was just a helpful tip not a complete rule

No I understand, I’m just suggesting that it doesn’t matter at that stage of the plants life, it’s just to wake up the seed, once the tap root is out and it’s growing you worry more. The tap I use to do this is 8.9-9.5ph and 350ppm. Never an issue. I’ve also used deionized ro water with the same successful results
