germination ?

on average how long does it take for a seed to germinate? i have 6 seeds germinating, and they have not shown any signs of germinating in 3 days, except for they have turned a real dark color, some look really dark brown and others look black, and all the stripes and designs on them are gone

it can take from one day to mabe even 4-5 days!i think that means that theyre getting rotten , not really sure bout that though

ok i sure hope they're not getting rotten :/ i really hope they are good by tomorrow, should i be checking on them more than once a day?

Are they bagseed? How are you germinating them? Are you keeping them moist/wet? In a dark place? My seeds usually pop within 3 days using the paper towel method. If they are bagseed, or old seeds, they may not be viable in which case you are doing nothing wrong, they just won't sprout.

they are bagseed, and im doing the paper towel method also, ive been keeping them as wet as possible w/o the paper towel dripping, i really dont have access to any other seeds, is there any way to tell when u get them if they are old?

o and i am keeping them in a dresser drawer that is never opened so it is dark, could the problem be its not humid enough?

I don't think so, but the viable (good) seeds usually are dark brown in color, with some tiger marks or stripes sometimes, no green, and when squeezed gently between fingers they don't crush at all. If they are old they may sprout a bit slowly.

When you first start germing seeds it's so easy to get excited and impatient. Try to forget about them and just maybe keep the paper towel wet once a day MAX. Then check them every night, try to keep yourself occupied so you don't worry about them so much. You can always try germing more if you need to. Keep us updated

ok i will thanks for the advice, and i have been checking them by squeezing them, all the seeds im germing were brown and had stripes on them, now they are black and have no stripes, however i just started germing a few more for good measure
