Seeds should be in the dark. I use lights to maintain the germination temp that I want but make sure the seeds are well covered with soil.

And I think That's my problem it's going to keep the temp up I have Swiss cheese auto is it better to use the kit our just go straight to soil

i just poke a half inch hole into moist soil, pop the seed in. lightly cover with soil, and leave it alone for a few days. i put mine under a light, if they pop when im not around i don't want them stretching for a light that isn't there.

i've germed in temps near 60, never used a warming mat or anything. i literally poke a hole with a pinky, pop the seed in, pile a tiny bit of dirt into the hole and over the seed, and leave it alone.

What's in your kit? Heating mats and domes are both very risky for germination.

Plenty of options, and opinions about those options; whatever works is what counts. The following has worked for me, though this is the first time running a single plant so I chose a large container to run for at least three weeks. There'd normally be 4-6 solo cups sitting on the aluminium tray with all covered by a clothes basket wrapped in plastic wrap (30% open ventilation):

Straight to medium after soaking a few hours in shot glass, planted one fingernail down a pencil diameter(ed) hole.

This is what I do. Except I only put seed far enough into the soil that I still see the top of the tip popping up. Just because I guess. I also give the soil a watering/drain before sticking her in, as my soil doesn't have nutes in it.

The weather got really nice a couple weeks ago and I got that itch to get my hands dirty. I tried a couple ways of sprouting some seeds to see which way would be quicker. I took 4 bagseeds and scuffed up the shells with some 220 sandpaper, put them on some rolled up wet paper towel, inside a plastic bag, then on or in any heat source available. The other 2 seeds wh 1 dayere placed in the soil I made up like Pattahabi does his for seedlings. Equal parts peat, ewc and perlite with some ostrey shell four. 2 days later both in the paper towel popped. 2 days after that I planted them. The next day one of the seeds put directly into the soil came up, and by the end of the day both germinated ones came up. And the next day the other seed in soil came up. The pic shoes the seeds beside my woodstove chimney. They love it there, it's nice and warm during the night.

I just moisten the dirt with drinking water . Soil no bottle nutes added. Put the seed in the dirt half a finger nail . I use light starting now . 96 watt T5 . 4 bulb clone grow bulbs 65k. 18 hr light . Staight into final pots as well . No cups . 24 to 48 hours later I get a sprout every time with DNA seeds . Two weeks later they get like this .

I want my seed 80-82°f in 100%rh.
Water should be beading on the inside of my ziplocs and complete darkness.. After germ in paper towel.. seed goes into solo cup with dirt that is moistened till it will hold its shape, or watered night before...either way it gets tilled. Seed goes on top then ziploc bag.

Tap water, chlorinated, no nutes..
A layer of dirt is not necessary as long as rh is high and lights are off.
Round leaves showing, are green and extended it gets side light. First set of leaves show, it goes under hps, height just before bleaching occurs or the leaves thicken.

I go from papertowel to cup with longest possible tap, it goes faster than soil earlier. But you dont want the shell to fall and roots to intertwine. Usually within 24hrs i have enough root to plant, maybe another 12....

And transplant into pots before roots compact and spin. This structure will still be there at harvest and messes with watering and nute uptake as well as hormonal responses
