Get Rid of all my BILLS? UK viewers only

Hi, i live in a flat with my friend and all the bills are in his name, including the electric/gas bill, internet bill, phone bill etc etc.

Would it be possible for me to ring up the electric/gas,phone company etc and say to them that i am a new resident and that the guy living here before moved out, so that all the bills get wiped clean for the property?

well what got me thinking was that we gotta pay £120 quid to get our BT line reconnected as an existing custoermr, however if i were a new customer at the same property then i think its free or alot cheaper.
so i got thinking this may apply to other companies too. ie the debt belongs to the person not the property.
I dont mind so much most of my bills because they arent that high except for the electric bill!!
is there a way i could get the bill reset? ie change electric suppliers and use my name instead rather than my mates?

why dont ya just say ya m8 has done 1 to the companies he owes, then change suppliers for everything virgin dus the broadband,tv,phone etc

I'm not in the UK, but yeah, that shit works here. If the bill was in someone else's name, call the company, say you just moved in and need service. Don't say anything about your friend - if you just moved in, you wouldn't know the last guy's name, or even if it were a he or she.

i don't live in the uk either but just have him cancel all the services and then you reconnect them as a new customer.

as long as he doesnt intend to ever use those providers again he's golden, otherwise i wouldnt.

from then on he has to sign up to them as a different person or same name different bank info. it would be a bitch down the line to move to a cable less area and be blacklisted from ky for example.
