How do you think your genetics would do outdoors in west central pa mountains? Thinking of putting a few under the sun this year.

I can tell you that the boys at GetawayMountain take VERY good care of people. They sent me a nice seed care package several years ago back in 2014 and it was one of my best years on record. Can't wait to try the new flavors!

I have been keeping a low profile and haven't been able to do much over the last couple of seasons. I sure do miss it though. Hopefully I can make it out to the next BBQ and say hello!

Wow! The Getaway Mountain folks noted my inquiry re: their gear and out of the blue offered to send me a care package of their quick finishing strains to test drive outdoors here in Oregon this summer. These strains look killer! May isn't gonna come soon enough.
Anyone with experience growing the GMSC strains? I assume they have a lot of land race genetics that requires some special handling.
How early do you start them indoors, and when do you put them outside?
Are their strains overly sensitive to photoperiod and pot size?
Any problems with hermies?
Any favorite methods for triggering expression of sex so I can weed out my males early?
Other advice on these strains?

What strains of yours would you recommend for my area? Last I put any outside was when I still lived down in south Carolina. Needless to say we have a much shorter growing season here.
Also my friend who does a few outdoor plants each year always has to pull early, we get alot of the early harvest season rains being closer to the great lakes and bud rot sets in quick.

FWIW, I asked the Getaway folks if they had any growing tips for their early finishing strains. His response:
@getawaymountain : I usually start mine in mid March under 18 hrs light, coming on at 4 am and off at 10 pm. In May i cut the time back to 830 pm and keep it the same in the morning 4 am so it will be real close to what the natural days are doing when they go outside after the last full moon in late May. Usually we wait to june 1 st here.
2-gallon containers work well and we don't flip lights to tell sex. Our strains will pre-sex and show females and males after 30-45 days so they don't get stunted or want to flower like a lot of early strains do. Also, they are stable but I still wouldn't interrupt the light cycle at any time. It's not natural and anything can happen to any strain. I've had power go out several times in veggie growth and haven't had any problems. Just don't do it intentionally is my opinion .
Also, we never put any in ground we use 30 gallon grow bags here the ground never warms up enough for that i tried it before and got way more with grow bags also we use half Promix and half Happy Frog soil conditioner and feed with our seaweed juice and roots organics and always use a moisture meter for watering never guess on when they need water.
As an aside, I soaked 2 Stumbleweed overnight Friday, poked them into rockwool after they split open on Saturday, and they were both poking out of the rockwool by Monday evening. Healthy seeds, for sure. Now, if I can just win the sex lottery and get at least 1 female.

had to get this on record heres getaways poison warp a total mold magnet this is the third one I had to cut early because of mold,the r2s r in the prosese of molding as well still weeks to go! what happened to early harvest there getawayfromme. really weird plant growth the leafest plant I have ever grown just shitty all the way around![photo[647].JPG](/data/attachments/3298/3298907-f7a071701a833d7c5351d8d155c1d8f6.jpg)

Bummer. Not a fan of these so called designer seed companies. In the picture of seeds someone got it shows C99 + Skunk #1 and several with poison in the name. I'm assuming those are crosses with Durban Poison. Seems everyone is chucking pollen theses days.

Bummer, guess my search for early flowering plants continues...seems pretty difficult finding anything bred for outdoors at US seed banks.
I have some Vashon Early Bird that I plan to cross with MOB this winter, working on my own seems to be my best bet, just time consuming to see the results outdoor with one round a year. Also a gamble on a seasons crop.
Any suggestions on something that you have found that plays well with Maine weather?

Grew 2 Stumbleweed from a sample pack the generous folks at Getaway sent me back in January.
First, a short rant regarding regular seeds. What a pain in the arse! Popped 3 seeds in February, all males. Popped another 5 seeds mid march and ended up with 2 females. Pretty sad. Granted, these were freebies, so no financial loss -- unless I count wasted time and resources -- but the expeorience has convinced me to only buy fem seeds going forward. If I'd paid their standard price and had to throw away 75% of my plants, well...
Enough said; on to the grow. I ended up with 2 phenotypes of the Stumbleweed; one is fairly normal (see the photo) and is probably 2-3 weeks from finishing. If I can just get it through a couple of rainy days coming up she should be ready to chop in the first week of October. The second phenotype is an odd one. Slow growing -- it only got to be ~50 cm -- and it grew very few fan leaves. I topped it twice and it grew out 4 long stems, no branching at all without topping, sparsely covered with small leaves. Kinda reminded me of a Joshua Tree. Anywho, it did finish by mid-Sept, so that's great for outdoor in the NW, but it only yielded 2 oz.
We'll see how the yield is on the plant that's still in the ground. It promises to be more typical of what one would expect.
Overall, if I could get fem seeds at a reasonable price, sure, I'd try this strain again. It's finishing earlier than any other strains I've tried outdoors, and so far there has been no sign of bud rot.
