Getting a Pit Bull Pup!

So next week I am expecting taxes coming back and it's just my luck that some lady has 12 pit bull pups for sale, $150 for male $200 for female. I am thinking of getting one (pretty sure I am jumping at them, they look adorable). Anyone else have one? I am going to walk it in the morning before work and then at night before work. I wanna train it to walk by my side while on leash as I live in town so I want him to be obedient.

I have a small house so I am leaning towards a female but I really want a male. What gender is nicer around children generally? Of course I am going to have it trained and it will probably be my big baby (I tend to spoil dogs a bit, but I am going to limit myself for this one).

So anyone with tips/opinions?

lol.. i love german shephards also tho..there cool.. not as big/strong obviously but still one of da best dogs
depends, really.... bigger and stronger usually. mine is 150lbs, can crack a 2'' diameter bone with a simple chomp :D. most pits are under a hundred pounds. staffie's get bigger, but aren't as ill tempered (i like them better than pits). i like the versatility of the gsd's, i've never had an easier dog to train.

i'd still love to have a blue staffie with a white belly :)

any dog is capable of being obedient man. You sound like someone who wants a dog to have a dog (not one of those assholes that wants pits so they look tough)

If you give any dog the right discipline and respect they will do what you want. You get what you put into them

You should go for it though I love my 3 dogs. I don't know what'd do without them

i had a solid white one with blue eyes, but he was a sick pup, and died (the guys whole litter died, we think it was a parvo outbreak...)

anyone have a white one with no markings?

I would advise against getting a Pitbull that doesnt have any papers with it because these breeds can be unpredictable. I would look into getting a pure bred American Staffy over a pitbull because they are a much nicer and trustworthy dog but are still very tuff and stong dogs that are similar to the pitbull.

i think dogs are 99% who raises them. "unpredictable dogs" are usually those that are either neglected, not trained, mistreated, or a combination thereof...

I have a female double saloon pit. She is all white with black and blue spots knee high and about 63 lbs. Pits are super chill and love kids. They demand alot of attention. Not sure about male or female aggresiveness but I do know females come into heat and can be moody so you'll have to put a diaper on her but I love my female

true..the only reason a dog is mean is becuz of the owners.. and how the treat it.. these dogs are treated very well ( but obviously not maken the dogs bitchs) and are perfectly fine with lil kids.. also the pop of da pups is a grand champ and has won many fights in the ring and he now lives with new owners ( my friends) and he doesnt get aggressive at all.. all he wants is u 2 pet him and hes fine.. but obviously dont be dumb and start hittin him and shit cuz ur askin for it

Not nessasarily, the Pitbull is more common to be unpredictable or to turn on owners and people. In my opinion its the one dog that can never be trusted. If a Pitbull turns then not even a bullet to the head will stop them so keep that in mind.

pitbulls are cool! they just have a bad name, because they can be beast, and are used for fighting but cocker spaniels are much more aggressive along with many others! I have 2 and they are the nicest/happiest dogs in the world and would never bite anybody! You must educate yourself before going by stereotypes and media propaganda! its like saying weed kills!

lol :p

i've had plenty of "dangerous" dogs, and never an incident (well, not to ME, anyway; strangers aren't always welcome, especially uninvited...). no dog does anything for no reason, pit bulls and dobermans don't just "snap". there are warning signs, and if you know dog psychology, you see it before it gets bad, and can put a stop to it.

as for stopping a pit, my gsd can and will. he hates pit bulls. keep in mind this is the same dog that was trained to jump over a truck to disarm an assailant, a dog that can put a 170lb boar on it's back and hold it....

don't play into propaganda. bad dogs = bad owners, it's that simple.
