Hello to everyone and thanks for your time to read my intro thread.
In the start of 2002 I started my quest to grow marijuana to avoid inflated prices and shady dealers. What I came across was one of the most incredible sources to marijuana cultivation at the time; OverGrow.com. I was blown away with all the information they provided, and how detailed the how-to tutorials. After several months of reading and researching I was ready to give a grow a go. I started some bag seeds with florescent lights with a 150 watt HPS on the way. The overgrow community coached me the whole 3 month grow, and thanks to them my first grow was a successful grow. It was not a high yielding grow, but the smoke turned me into a permanent grower. (The only pics of this grow died with the overgrow site.)
Beginning of 2003, my second grow followed right after the first one, with the same closet and lights. The only differences are the seeds. I was drooling over the Bubblegum and Northern Lights grows I seen on the grow threads, so I decided to order some from Nirvana. I started 6 seeds, but only got 1 female Bubblegum and 2 female Northern Lights. This was another 3 month grow with the coaches of overgrow. I successfully completed this grow with a yield of 1 ounce per plant. Needless to say I was very happy with what I created and enjoyed it right down to the bottom of the jar.
Unfortunately the 1.5 million dollar resort I was staying at got raided and everything I owned was lost. They didnt raid the resort for the cultivation of marijuana; they raided it because of manufacturing of meth that was happening in the lower cabins. This I had no part of and had no knowledge of the manufacturing. I was escorted off the property and that was the last time I seen that place, I never went back.
In 2005 I had a place of my own again and sick of the price of marijuana. I started a 3rd 3 month grow with 2 successful females. I dug out my seeds and pick out the strain Nirvana Misty. I gained a 250 watt HPS to grow these girls with. After a harvest I got barely 2 ounces, but it was good smoke. Do to the smell of pungent weed I did not want to risk the security of my place and grow again.
Late in 2007 my friend has ran himself into trouble and left him unable to tend to the 2 unknown plants in his basement. I agree to take them the rest of the time until they were done. This grow I acquired a 2500 ft2 ozone generator. This is the best thing on the market to get rid of the smell, even other smells non-weed related (pets). The 2 were just starting their flowering cycle and did not show sex yet. However a few weeks later the results were in: 1 female and 1 male. Turned out at harvest she put out a good ounce to smoke.
September 2009 here we are, new place, new area, new method, and new setup. I have turned to hydroponics to solve this 1oz/plant problem Ive been having. I have setup a hydroponic ebb and flow table for this grow with a max of 6 plants for a 50litter tray, hydroton as the medium. The 250 watt HPS will be active for this grow with a 24h cycle for vegetation instead of the usual 18/6. I will be using the Flora threesome nutrients with complete reservoir change every week. The ozone generator will be on duty to protect the rest of the house from the stink of fresh green gold. Ventilation is handled by the 2 best ultra-quiet bathroom fans with 4 input and output. Mylar will be the reflector instead of flat white. And all this takes place in a space that is 3ft x 2ft x 5 ½ ft. A netless scrog will be my technique as Ive been doing this for years and find the net unnecessary. Germination is scheduled for mid-September.
I am happy to be a part of a community again and to be active in marijuana cultivation. It surprised me that the information didnt change much and the techniques I learned are still in play. Even overgrow articles were still floating on the net; that brought back some memories as I remembered reading them years ago. Being 22 and starting my 3rd year for my bachelors degree I am looking to pay some debt off and put my balance to 0 again.
