Getting ready for my first grow.

Hi everyone.
So I've been reading the forums and other various websites/books and I'm getting ready to start my first grow in January.
I'll be indoors and it will be hydroponic
I've come up with a list of things I'll need to start off with.

-grow tent
-General Hydro. waterfarm(because I'm sure i'll mess up if I make one myself the first time)
-thermometer
-grow rock
-nutrients(tips on which kind would be appreciated)
-Lighting(going for Daystar digital and HPS lighting..again tips are welcome)

Am I missing anything? Thanks in advanced for any feedback!

yeah you would need exhaust fan, Ph and ppm meter, and most importantly good genetics

I'm probably gonna start with white widow clones.

@ Robert do you mean easier cost wise, or easier all together? Because I decided to go hydro for more precision and the slight challenge =)

hydro gives you a maximum challenge you have to stay on top of your PH and PPM all the time if it gets out of range your plants turn quick , soil is like a buffer it is more forgiving and a better medium for learning in my opinion

hydro is easier, yes plants can become deficient quicker but also recover and grow quicker. ppm and ph meter is needed. you dont have to carry soil in and out of grow, medium is recycled, easier cleaner and quicker, less of a musclework, you could control temps better and bugs love soil! as for cost, in the longer run that is after only a year or so, you would have paid more on soil grows than in hydro, add to it all the extra work the handwatering and trouble. in hydro you only control things could check on the room every 3-4 days and leave it unattended for the rest of time. each has his opinion, but to me, if i had to grow in soil, i would probably not be growing anymore

what size room? what size light? i built 2 water farms. i just put a seedling in it, in a starter plug. im using boticare nutes for both my soil and water farm. ph and ppm meter is a must. i check my ph 2 times a day. ro water helps keep ph from raising fast.

I'm starting off with 2 plants. Not sure what size grow tent I should use yet. Probably gonna go for the 2x2x5. I'm gonna start off with a 600 watt light though I'm not sure if that would be too much for just two.

oh yeah that will be way too much for 2x2 area, in this area 250w will be more than enough. number of plants is insignificant. 600 could light a 3x4 even 4x4

I'm gonna go with a 1.5x3 tent, just because i have enough closets in my room already. I'll probably use more than two indicas though and just skip veg. stage if i can.
