Getting started opinion needed

Hi everyone about to invest in a secondhand light, being a noob is 50gbp a good deal for a 600w HPS light with bulb,digital ballast. All opinions greatly appreciated.

what the hell is gbp? I'm just a poor dumb country boy.

When buying a light fixture you have to consider these factors. What type of reflective hood is it. What type of ballast is it if it is one of those magnetic ones they generate too much sound and they generate a lot of heat. I myself use electronic ballasts quiet and heat emmission is toleable. If it is a secondhand light ( assuming the seller is honest with you) make sure to find out how long has he used it for in terms of cycles and months/years. Make it imperative to know how old the bulb used for the light fixture is. Ask if he had any problems with the system and if he is honest he will tell you. I am always leary of buying light fixtures used not unless they are coming from a hydro store. People hurting for money will become shady just to get a few bucks out of a possible defective item.
