Getting started

Hello

I'm looking to start growing and I'm trying to get a space ready. I wanted you guys opinion on whether the space picutred would be good. I am looking to buy the gorilla grow tent that is 2'x2.5'x5.7". I didn't plan on removing the stuff pictured in the back. I figured I could just slide the tent in. Also, any thoughts on ventilation? Will the space be okay. I'm totally new to this and trying to do as much research as possible. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply. Okay I'm going to sound stupid, but here we go. I put fans and vents to bring in the fresh air and pullout the hot air, right? The door will be closed during the day, so if I have the air flowing out inside the space will it be okay? Do you think it will get too hot?

You have to figure out a way to stabilize temps with the door closed, you will need an intake and exhaust at all times regardless of the doors position. Also, cramming your tent/cab in an area with stuff behind and or around it will bring the tents internal temps up.
 
What kind of lighting do you plan on using? You'll still need air exchange, it's just a matter of how much. Sticking the equivalent of a 400-1000w heater in a very small enclosure designed to retain & reflect light back (heat is light too) requires quite a bit of cooling. Air cooled tube makes it a little easier maybe, but still - plan on more cooling & air exchange than you think you need.

That makes sense. I will need to figure out what to do with that stuff. I am limited on space in my apt.

I was looking at going with mh/hps setup. From what I've read these will produce the best yield but it seems they give off a lot of heat. Since I'm only starting off with a
few plants I may start with cfl lights. I'm still trying to figure this part out.

I recommend going with a HID light. A proper LED is expensive and CFL just doesn't have the light intensity and penetration to grow good bud. Don't forget to watch your relative humidity- something often overlooked by new growers
 
I would too. By the time you get enough cfl's to flower properly, you've got a lot more heat than might be expected.

A good tent setup is an air-cooled hood, HID lighting, an inline fan for the cooltube, another inline for a carbon filter/extraction, and a couple of small clip-on fans to move air around inside. You should oversize your fans and use speed controllers to adjust. Use insulated ducting. Timer(s) for the lights & fans.
Don't cheap-out on the filter! Get a phresh, can, or other brand name. You won't be sorry. Everything else above is relative, but imo, a filter is not. If the 1st two letters of your handle is any indication you need good filtration, y'all. xD
