It says it comes with an oyster mushroom syringe. So unless you just want to grow oysters, then yes, you will need to buy your own spores separately.

I've never seen this mini mushroom box before. It's only 20 bucks. I'm not sure how successful it will be, but give it a shot and let us know. It's only 20 bucks and then another 20 or so for the spores. So it's not too big of an investment.

For 20 bucks you could buy 2 syringes and have enough to innoculate 20 jars, using the PF Tek method - which you probably want to try first if you're a beginner like me. I used this site (because you get 1 free if you buy at least 1 your first time) : http://freespores.com/ I payed about 13 bucks, and got 2 syringes that arrived safely in the mail :) And if you haven't already, check out www.shroomery.org you'll be glad you did....
