GG Bastard Series - Colombian Gold

What's up RIU? I've wrapped up my first couple auto grows (check out my first auto harvests) and am moving on to photos. The first ones in line are these Gage Green Seeds Bastard Series Colombian Gold (name is long af).

There's going to be a couple 'firsts' for me on this grow. The first 'first' is cloning. After I get a couple of these plants established I'm going to sex them, pick out 1-2 of the most vigorous females, kill the losers and establish a couple mothers to take cuttings from. I'm keeping half of the 12 pack so I can attempt to breed them in the future (open pollination, same way this pack was made) - but for now I've got plenty of seeds.

2nd 'first' is that I've never dealt with photos really. With the autos I didn't have to worry about light leaks or flipping to 12/12 or any of that stuff...3rd 'first' is that these are regular seeds. All of the autos I grew were fem...so sexing cuttings and weeding out the males = new to me as well. Hopefully no issues there.

Here are the first couple that have germinated. 2/4 didn't make it (all of my autos germed before this so I fucked something up this time around - thinking too much perlite and they dried out too quick)...

I'm not 100% sure when I planted these but the idea of this thread is to document the clones more than the mothers...The smaller of the 2 was stretching too much and kinda fell over on it's side so I had to replant it deeper - it had a little shock but is starting to prop back up and take off. So far so good...

I was pretty satisfied with the harvests on the autos so I'm going to stick w/ the same soil and nutes this time around (organic soil, Dr. Earth nutes with a little silica blast in early veg and molasses towards the end of flowering) , adjusting the water pH to 6.5 for each watering. These prospective mothers will be on 24/7 photoperiod until they are large enough to take cuttings from to sex. I've got some research to do on cloning but I don't think it'll be a big deal. I was thinking 18/6 for veg on the clones after they root (24/7 to start), and ofc 12/12 or maybe even 10/14 for flower.

For the most part my growing methods have been on the simple side. I think a lot of this shit gets over complicated for almost negligible differences in results. I might not be pulling pounds out of these tents but sticking w/ the basics has been working out good enough for me atm...I got about a 1/2 pound from this 3'x3' tent on my first grow which way overshot my original goal of around 4 oz. If this grow goes half as smooth we should be golden.

Lighting: 600w MH for veg, 600w HPS for flower (in a 3'x3' tent lol). 400w LED for the clones.

I won't be updating too frequently until things get moving along. As always all questions, comments and even criticism is invited here so let me know what you think.

Stick to 18 hours on, and 6 dark until you hit veg, about 30 days later is good,
cloning is but cambium engineering largely replaced by the DIY bubble cloner
easy to build for under $50.00 in most places
you may need to deplete (N) levels before snipping clones off,
just a simple flush is the best for that, if in doubt snip cuttings off lower laterals
to my blog on the old cloner ..lol

As soon as I know the cuttings have rooted and will survive I'm gonna water the plants, wait about an hour, take one more set of cuts and then bring out the HPS bulb n set the timer to 12/12. About one more week I'd say (roughly)

Sure looks good in there. That rent is filling up fast.
Yeh man these things are not slowing down - probably could let them go a while longer after taking out GG #2, and I don't have a gender on GG 1 yet so that one could very well be removed eventually as well...That would leave just GG 3, SBA and the Critical Sensi Star seedling...

Looking great, your training is setting up several colas per plant there Ayr0n, very nice
Trying my best to make better use of the area this time around. Had a lot of wasted space last run. Might as well run a smaller bulb if I'm only gonna fill half of a 32" x 32" area lol...trying to get a little more out of the 600w but probably gonna have to get a bigger tent to fully utilize it

Couple old tracks...I've got a bad habbit of not finishing anything so they all have only 1 verse xD

A guy from a music forum (Goes by the name Elemes, he does some really good work) posted this beat in the showcase section n I asked him if I could use it...the title was "Stealin' The Night" but I didn't really know why at the time. After I recorded the verse he told me he just named it that because he stayed up all night making the beat lol - here's the result:
https://soundcloud.com/2infamouz/stealin-the-night-2infamouz

There's a song called "Let It Whip" by Dazz Band that I always thought was the shit so I sampled the hook and made a beat 4 it, then recorded a verse:

Idk why but that original let it whip beat damn near makes me hard...somethin' bout it o_O I guess 80's dance music is what does it for me haha
If you share this bizarre fetish you should def bump this:

"Santa Marta Colombian Gold, also known simply as Colombian Gold is a psychedelic mostly sativa cannabis variety from the Santa Marta region of Colombia. It is a hybrid of different pure landrace lines from that region, having very good mold resistance due to its acclimatization to wet climates. A plant mainly for outdoor cultivation where it will reach a height of 2.5 meters, but can also be grown indoors - 3-4 weeks of vegetative growth needed.

A sweet, intense aroma with powerful psychedelic effects, this was the variety that Simon Bolivar took on his conquests and exchanged with various native peoples for other medicinal plants and spices. Medicinally it is useful to combat nausea and for glaucoma. Colombian Gold specifics:

  • Cannabis genetics: Colombian Santa Marta
  • Variety: 75% cannabis sativa
  • Type: Hybrid
  • Flowering: 9-10 weeks
  • Harvest: end of November outdoors northern hemisphere
  • Growing environment: Indoors and outdoors
  • THC level: 19.3% of total cannabinoids
  • Characteristics: Sweet and potent strain, good mold resistance"

"Colombian Gold is a classic landrace sativa that originated in the Santa Marta mountains of Colombia. Its buds are fluffy and crystal-covered, radiating skunky, sweet notes of lemon and lime. This indigenous sativa parented the famous Skunk #1, a hybrid that has become a staple of cannabis breeding. The active, uplifting, and focused effects of Colombian Gold come without paranoia and anxiety, making this strain a great choice for novice consumers or those needing to stay productive while medicating. Colombian Gold may help patients ease muscle tension, pain, and other physical symptoms, but its stimulating and happy qualities could also be used for depression and ADD/ADHD."

"Columbian: also known as "Gold," was one of the original sativa imports that fueled the marijuana renaissance in North America during the 1960's. Ohhhh the sweet smell and taste with a mellow high that can’t be matched. Sativa all the way. I miss the melow taste, not to mention the buzz from Columbian Gold. $40.00 an ounce those days. I remember complaining that Gold is all anyone ever had :-)"

Sooo...where do you guys get halfway decent information about strains from? Everywhere I go is just kinda like...umm it grew in that one area that you already knew about...because it's in the name...

I guess reading grow journals is the best bet or just growing em yourself...would be dope if there was a book or something that had the history of popular cannabis strains

I use seed finder but it's like your talking about, kinda generic.

http://en.seedfinder.eu

Other than that I look at grow journals. I like to see what someone's experience with a strain is more than I like a breeders description.

Hard to tell right now but I really don't think all of the clones are gonna make it lol...Thinking I started venting the dome too early...half are starting to slowly droop and the other half are looking okaay...acclimation is a bitch when you can't be around all day...just kinda misting in the morning n crossing my fingers while I'm gone for the day

This is the same one I use for more details than most, some are updated by users/growers and have more detail than others. Some strains also show their genetic lines. But as already mentioned, if I'm considering a strain I'll seek out grows and usually find some real-world grows to check out.

Lol yeah I'm working on it :P Still trying to decide when to make the dark period so that it fits my schedule ...really want to be able to check on them regularly without disturbing their photoperiod...I'm thinking maybe 7pm-7am for the dark period would be a safe bet...

Yeah you gotta go with whatever works with your schedule. I run them 7pm-7:00am due to 1/2 price rates during off hours and that's exactly the timeframe they charge me the least. I'm not a morning person so I do all my maintenance in the evenings. Having the cams in the rooms I don't go in there unless necessary. I should only go in there before I puff, last night I went in to adjust/center the CMH lights, moved the power cable, which moved the power bar in the ceiling racks enough and tripped the power button off, bonehead move took me 15 minutes to figure out what I had done - lol

Clones are in rough shape lol...not the best time of year to try my hand at cloning ...it's like 8% humidity in the surrounding room so as soon as I start trying to vent the dome they are getting pms :( we''ll see what happens but I think most will die this time unfortunately...

:) That sucks, I sometimes throw a shallow tray or two of water inline with the incoming air booster fan in my seedling/clone cabinet to raise RH when they're starting out. Yours is really low though, try a humidifier?
