I've ran all three GH base nutes in flood and drain trays over the last 5 years. I started with the 3 part and used it for a few years, it worked good. Then I tried the maxi powders because I needed nutes and was broke and they were cheap. They worked good too go figure, but I didn't like mixing the powders. Then I was given a sample quart of flora nova, and decided to try that. Guess what.... it worked well too, lol. I liked how easy it was to just measure and mix one nute so I am still useing the nova. I do run Silica blast when I do res changes, and I usually run cal-mag but I've been out for the last few weeks, and the plants are looking good so I might skip it for a minute and see how they do.
Nice!
Yeah man, i've been bouncing back and forth between all 3(and other brands) ever since the one parts came out. It does get old measuring powder out, and then shaking the shit out of it in a jug with hot water before adding. That's how I do it anyways.
Floranova gets old to me because you have to shake the shit out of it before measuring, AND like I had said, it stains my shirt:-( lol, basically gets everything stained, and can clog filters.
Floraseries because you have to buy so much of it. They all have their plus's and some minus's.
tried it in Ebb and flow and dwc
Interesting. I've never had problems with it in flood n drain setups.
Why suck?

Hi, question from a noob. Not questioning the validity of ANYTHING you've stated, because I have zero experience and I understand what you've said is based on 1st hand experience.....

I was thinking of going with Floranova in a RDWC system for its ease of use (1 part sounds attractive, especially having to do topping up calculations). Do you think there might still be root-rot issues even using a water chiller and a preventative product like Hydroguard the whole time? I realise that If you were in a single DWC bucket/tote setup, you may not have been chilling your water. I've been led to believe (by RDWC salesmen mostly, but also from reading in here) that many root health issues in this type of system can be avoided by keeping the water at around 68-ish degrees, so I was budgeting to include a good chiller and go with a slightly more sophisticated system.

Also, are there any other reasons to avoid Floranova in DWC?
