DAY 27 of 12/12. Took a little shot after the lights went out, everything is nice and green, nothing negative to report. I'm loving this new light! It would be awesome to get another 2 and create a wrap around effect, don't know if I necessarily need it, but man would it be cool. Biglittlejohn, the place where I get my seeds from also carries Cali's Blackwater, looks pretty awesome. I think I'm gonna go with their Tahoe OG the next time around though, either that or their Buddha Tahoe OG, they both look spectacular. Speaking of Reserva Privada though, a little while back I ran a DWC grow with their Kandy Kush, got a couple of freebies, I had issues throughout the grow though so while they were 5 foot monsters, the buds ended up being real airy. Anyway, the GSCs are doing great, buds have formed and now we get to watch em grow!

Og was pretty temperamental until I figured her out. I have found that adding a finisher in the last 4 weeks like Blossom Builder helps.

Blackwater looks special....mendo purps + SFV OG? I just got an RP silver kush bean. Will have to try it out.

Yea that Blackwater looks amazing from the pictures I've seen of it. After some more perusing online I think I've zeroed in on two potential strains that I might run next, an oldie but goodie Super Silver Haze from Green House Seeds and Reserva Privada's Kosher Kush. I think I'm leaning more toward the Super Silver Haze but damn does the Kosher Kush look nice, so IDK! I'm gonna have to mull this one over.

DAY 28 of 12/12. Threw in some pics of the buds, they're starting to look mighty good. Judging from the smell in the grow room, I'm thinking these girls are gonna be pungent to say to least! Thank god I have a carbon scrubber otherwise the whole neighborhood would be unnecessarily exposed to the sweet stank that is these GSCs, and we don't need that. After topping off my system with fresh H2O my ppm is sitting at 820, pH is at 5.9, and the nutrient solution is 67 degrees. The T5 I added into the tent is making some of the leaves closest to it cup up a bit from the heat so I think I'll be moving the light to the other side so I can keep it a little further away.

Anyone catch that article in the newest issue of High Times regarding GSCs? Apparently true GSCs has never been released in either seed or clone form for purchase by consumers by this family that goes by "The Cookie Family." It goes on to say that all the different GSC strains on the market are either knockoffs or someone got lucky, found a seed in a bag of true GSCs and used that to create a cross. Kinda disappointing to read that considering Cali Connection hypes their GSCs as the true Thin Mint pheno. Now I don't know who to believe! Either way, it looks as though these girls I've got going are gonna be something special so I'm not too worried about whether or not it's "TRUE GSCs."

Anyway, enjoy the pics of these little monsters, things are gonna start looking real different in there quite soon!

You should believe HIghtimes in this case I think. From everything I've read (all over the net)thats the true story. Also Swerve from cali connections has been called out on BS multiple times. Further more, getting a specific pheno from a seed is not something you can promise. If a breeder spends a few years working on a strain he can stabalize the genetics so that by the 5th generation or so there will be pretty consistent phenos coming from them. However all these breeders that are pumping out GSC crosses are not putting the years of work into stablizing the genetics. Thats a big reason you read so many hermi reports from certain breeders, or some breeders will even make notes on the strains that they might hermi.

820 ppm seems kind of high, but if your girls are taking it fine, keep it up. I'd look out for burnt tips as a sign that it may need to be dialed back a tad.

Yea so I've been running around 950 ppm for the last week or so but my ppms were rising due to the plants taking in more water than nutes which tells me that the 950 mark was a little high for em. After I threw about another 3 gallons of fresh water into the system it brought it back down to 820 ppm and has been holding there for the last 24 hours. So right now, 820 seems to be the sweet spot for me. There are a few fan tips that have a slight, and I mean slight, touch of yellow to them, but it's nothing major and certainly isn't showing any signs of progression. To be completely honest, they seem to have handled everything I've thrown at them with ease. But trust me, I know all about burnt leaf tips from my previous grows! Seems like I couldn't get through a single one without an over-fertilization issue, probably because I was relying on what the nutrient bottle told me to feed them. Needless to say, I have learned my lesson on that front and now I grow by simply watching the plants closely and allowing them to tell me what they need or have too much of. It seems to be working out quite well so far so I'm gonna keep em dialed in around the 800-850 ppm mark unless they tell me otherwise.

I think we all do that. I've been doing 450-500 ppm in veg, 550-650 ppm in early flower, 750-850 mid flower and then down to 600 or so. In the last week, I give very little base nutes and then do a 24-48 hr flush. Flush isn't really necessary but I do it anyways.

I don't even check my levels on ph and ppm everyday like I used to.

This is my finished gsc. It's great weed that smokes nice but has no cookie or mint taste at all so who knows what it really is. 'Twas a clone from craigslist. Really good stone though
ow craigslist is the best way to get scammed not always but a 50 50 chance.. if it dont have the dough or the mint or even the cherry pie at least the cherry pie it problem aint it could be a cross??? though

Yea I've been pretty anal about this grow, checking my levels each and every day to make sure they're where they need to be. As far as I'm concerned the grow process takes such a long time that I simply cannot afford to not keep a close eye on em. It would be a shame to have wasted two months just to have some issue that could have been avoided by simply monitoring my girls. But I suppose since I have em dialed in properly they'd be fine if I left em for a few days, but I like to keep my water level right below the net pot and since they're drinking a lot of water at this point I find that I have to top them off every other day.

New development, my Nutra-Dip Tri-Meter has apparently shit the bed. pH and temp readouts are fine but my nutrient probe is giving me jumping readings ranging from 1600-5000 ppm. Now I know my solution is at 820, so something is obviously wrong with the meter. I'm going to go ahead and order a new one and then hopefully figure out how to fix the old one and use it in my small veg box that I will be building soon. I needed another meter anyway for the veg box so I hope I can figure out what's wrong with the old one so I don't have to purchase two new meters. One thing is for certain, I'm certainly not going to finish my girls without a continuous read meter, absolutely no way! I haven't come this far to just be guessing during the most important time of their growth cycle.

DAY 29 of 12/12. Took a pic after the lights went out last night, without fail it always takes me by surprise how different these girls look once the HPS turns off. Talk about lush greenery! Buds are coming along nicely, I haven't bothered to count all the bud sites but man are there a lot of em. Maybe I'll take a tally later! I can't wait to see what kinda bud structure I'm gonna get outta these girls. Judging from how burly and strong all the branches are, these girls are gonna be able to handle some serious bud weight. Let's hope that the rock hard branches equates to massive buds, should stand to reason right? Anyway, haven't moved the T5 yet, the growth closest to the light doesn't really seem to be adversely affected by the extra heat thrown off by the light. That being said, my grow room temps range from around 68F during the light cycle to around 64-66F during the dark cycle so a little extra heat can't hurt. It's actually great having lower grow room temps because I can get my 600W air cooled reflector closer than the recommended 20"s. Not to mention that lower temps during flower means I should hopefully be getting some nice color outta these girls. But only time will tell! Lot's of pics I've seen of end product GSCs has a fair amount of purple in it, I'd love to see that in my girls.

Oh don't think I haven't almost caused myself headaches by being non chalant. My last grow, I didn't check the bucket for 2 days and on the third day had an empty bucket. I almost shot myself. I used to be anal about topping but then I realized that the plant has no idea how much water is in the bucket. I still top off, just not daily. By the time I do my weekly res change, it's almost empty. When I have checked ppm and ph, I find that they are in the same area as when I swapped the res out. I probably need to go back to checking more often though.

Few more pics from this afternoon. Moved the T5 to the other side, I think it's gonna do better over there. Got the nutra-dip fixed and functioning properly so it's all systems go.

So not really sure why I never included this in any posts before this point, but as you can see in the pics, my two GSCs are different phenos. The one in the front is a much more sativa dominant pheno with thinner leaves and sharp serrated edges. The one in the back however is a much more indica dominant pheno with thick broad leaves that are very plump and soft looking. They shall be named #1 and #2 (front and back). Come harvest time I'm gonna keep em separate as I'm sure there will be differences in the smoke. Fortunately they both seem to be at the same point in their grow cycle so I shouldn't have to do a two stage harvest. But man am I looking forward to seeing the difference between these two girls once they stat to plump up! I'll post some better pics later so ya'll can see exactly what I'm talking about.

Ok so here are the pics, they're from yesterday, DAY 30 of 12/12. As you can see, they're two very different looking plants. It's actually pretty cool that I got lucky with two different phenos. Hopefully they'll both be killer. These girls sure are taking their time but I think they're gonna finish strong!

Thanks drifter! Yea it's hard to say what is legit and what isn't. I checked out your grow, your girls are looking good. I like how you tied that one Tahoe cut down and grew her out laterally. I'm actually going to be doing the same thing once I get my small veg box setup. On the fence about whether to actually use it as a veg box or simply do a small autoflower grow under the T5 just for shits and giggles. I've got a couple auto white widow crosses that sound pretty tasty. I'm not the biggest fan of autoflowers but they are fun to grow. You mentioned you got yours in clone form? I got my seeds from Cali Connection. I'm actually kinda disappointed because after doing lots of research into the subject, it turns out that Cali Connection's GSCs are not the legit GSCs as the creators of GSCs do not release seeds or clones. Furthermore, the seed bank I got my beans from states the genetics of Cali Connection's "GSC" strain to be "Thin Mint Pheno Pure GSC Seeds," so I'm not really sure what to think of that. If Cali Connection's "GSC" is indeed a rip-off then what are the true genetics of the strain I'm growing?? When I was doing my ordering I saw this strain and thought to myself, wow, GSCs thin mint pheno, I'll take some of that, I guess I should have done more research first. Moral of the story, it looks like we might have all fallen victim to craze and confusion that is GSCs. Now all this being said, Cali Connection does have some great gear so regardless of whether what I've got growing right now is a rip-off or simply closely liked genetics to the real GSCs, they're growing like champs and by the look of things, should turn out to be pretty epic bud, regardless of lineage.

Hey at least your Cali Connection seeds popped. My BC Bud Depot GSC is a dud. And from what you posted regarding the High Times article, getting a legit GSC Seed is a shot in the dark because the breeders haven't worked the genetics. I am very interested in your yield, taste and aroma results and pretty much check this thread daily since I've ended my hiatus.

Well two of my GSC seeds we're duds as well, they popped and then did nothing, can't have a winner every time I suppose. Glad to hear you like the thread though, I'm trying to keep it as up to date and informative as possible. It's easy to grow some pot but it's hard to get connoisseur bud, everything's gotta be just right throughout the whole grow. My hopes are that this thread gives everyone a reference point as to what proper RDWC levels are (at least for the strain I'm currently growing) and what might work for other people currently trying to produce top shelf bud. As always, the thread is open to questions relating to how I grow and to what I do to care for my plants. Naturally, once these girls finish up there'll be a smoke report and weigh in.

Alright so DAY 31 of 12/12. GSC #1 is a monster! She has probably 3 times as many bud sites as does GSC #2. GSC #2 might not produce as much but I'm excited to see how it turns out, very different plant from it's sister. Buds are looking good though, still small but getting some frost to em. My nute levels were rising again so I topped off the system with another 3 gallons of H2O. Brought my ppms down to 770, pH is sitting at 5.9, and the res is a nice 67.

I don't RDWC because my space doesn't allow for it in a way that makes sense, but the thread is awesome and I enjoy the dialogue. GSC is what caught my attention because I was trying to germ a GSC Seed, but I am here with you for the remaining 30 days or so.
